"You got me right up into the word 'magic', but I'll take your word for it," he chuckled.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
"Nein, I'm not, and honestly, I wasn't all that clear on magic back home, either. I know the what but not the how or the why and that's just the way it's always been," he shrugs.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
"That's okay!" Yuna said with a smile, patting Kratzer's arm. "You're already one step ahead of like, 90% of the human population anyway since you know the what."
He chuckled. "Well, true, but I'm not exactly human anymore.''
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
Yuna's smile only grew. "That's okay!" she said. "Neither am I!"
And at that moment, an instantaneous change occured. One moment, she was a red-headed little girl. The next, she was an average sized wolf with reddish fur... that looked surprisingly cute.
That was when he burst out laughing at the ludicrosity of, well, everything. A mixed-up incant had brought him from stepping into Hell to falling down in front of a half-dragon and now he was standing in front of a werewolf.
"Right...werewolves," he chuckled. "This is going to take getting used to, I have to admit."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
Yuna laughed - a distinctly human laugh from her wolven mouth. "That's okay! We like you anyways! You can take all the time you want to get used to us. I still uh-" Yuna ducked her head, rubbing her snout on her leg. "-I think you're cool."
He smiled. "Well, I haven't met any kind of shifter that can change as quickly or speak as smoothly so kudos to you, kiddo."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
Yuna laughed, nuzzling Kratzer's leg bashfully. "Aw, thanks," she whispered quietly.
Bo came up behind them, reaching down to pat Yuna's head.
"For the record," he said. "If you ever do want anything explained to you like you're a five-year-old, you can always ask me. Because I'm mostly only capable of explaining things simply because even I have trouble understanding it too, haha," he laughed briefly as Yuna shifted in a human and hugged him, grabbing his neck.
He laughed heartily. "I'm certain I'll take you up on that, Herr Bo. It's honestly a good thing I didn't try to make a living as a scholar. The only thing I could read well was the grand staff, anyways."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
"It's how you write music," he explains. "You have two rectangles that represent the treble clef and the base clef, which, together, are called the grand staff and represent all the notes you can play on a piano, from the lowest on the base to the highest on the treble. When I was a kid I was part of my church's choir so I learned to read it and I played accordion at the bar a lot - the barkeep had one, and he taught me when I could get the chance - so it was all I could read, since my family wasn't literate."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
"Ja, it's really the only thing I'm naturally good at. I wasn't even a decent liar as a kid, honestly," he chuckled, a little amused by her surprise. "I wanted to make a living of it but it wasn't what life had in store for me, as it turns out. I can teach you if you want to learn."
