He paused, looking at it. "Well, kind of. I mean, I lived through it because I'm a vampire. And yes, it's a...surgical scar." May as well put it lightly enough for the kid - no need to say the truth of the matter. Vivisection wasn't something he wanted to explain. Or remember, for that matter.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
Niecy nodded, respectfully holding back any further questions.
Bo pulled his boots back onto his feet, and then walked over to Kratzer, putting a hand over his shoulder. "Well, that was fun! We've still got time to check out one more place down here if you want to before mealtime."
"Sure, may as well get the lay of the land," he said, forcing a smile as he pulled his brain away from the rabbit hole caused by Niecy's question.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
"Oh! You should show him the gardens!" one student insisted.
The girl who'd been playing with Kratzer's gun earlier scurried up beside the vampire. "Yes! Yeah! I can show you my plants! I've been working on splicing two different healing herbs together by grafting one onto the other and I thinkyouwouldfinditreallycoolandp-" her voice came to an abrupt halt when Bo put a hand on her head. "-uh, yeah!" She blushed, looking away.
"Would you want to do that?" Bo asked Kratzer, grinning down at the girl, who leaned into Bo bashfully, eventually hugging his waist.
He laughed. "Ja, sure, I love gardening and I'd be quite interested to see what you've been doing."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
The girl's face lit up again, though she still looked a little shy. "C-can I-" she looked up at Bo. "-lead the way?" she asked.
"Of course!" Bo said, ruffling her hair.
With a pure smile, she hurried ahead, waving for everyone to follow. Her friends met up with her and followed behind while Bo walked in the back with Kratzer.
"Her name's Yuna. She's looking to be a promising medicine maker. It's been amazing to watch her really come into her own with her magic in the time she's been here."
"She's got a good heart, I'm sure she'll make a fine healer," he replies, mind drifting towards Ada for a mkment before he shoved it away again.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
"It tastes...weirdly metallic but no, it doesn't taste terrible."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
He laughed. "It seems to be a reptile thing, snake demons are a bit tangy too, but dragon's a bit more...bitter."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
"That's interesting. I don't really know why that is, though. I'm not really uh, well-versed in more scientific stuff like that I guess. Like, baking for a group of fifty? I'm your guy. But uh, names of bones? Why our body works the way it does? Heck if I know haha."
"...baking...for a group of fifty?" he whistled, shaking his head and taking off an invisible hat before performing a comically gallant bow. "I tip my hat to you, fine sir, that is an impressive achievement."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
"Oh, why thank you good sir," Bo replied, mimicking the gesture in return. "It is a feat I would not attempt again without a fully staffed kitchen, but nonetheless, I have bragging rights I suppose."
"I sense there is a story behind that one," he chuckled, righting himself and resuming their walk.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
