This is my primary character.
Details:
Name: Gylil {meaning Sorceress}
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Rank: Sargent {the lowest commanding officer}
Species: Plains Elf
Appearance: She has long, straight, and brown hair. Her eyes are a deep, cold gray. The tips of her pointed ears barely stick out from the side of her hair. She is tall, thin, not the strongest of the elves, but is very quick on open ground.
Armor: She has black, slightly purple-glowing 'glove-like' armor on her arm. It goes around her knuckles, but not her palm (so she can still draw a bow and hold a sword). She wears a thin green sleeveless shirt. Her pants are slightly tight (definitely not flare pants, but certainly not excruciatingly tight), have a blue-ish hue, and reach her shins. She usually doesn't wear a coat, even in the cold months. She wears light, flat shoes that are flexible enough where she can run in them easily.
Weapons: She has a light blue short sword, that glows slightly silver. She calls it "Thorn". She also carries with her a light, but sturdy bow and exactly six arrows. She usually doesn't miss her mark when she shoots, but she usually only shoots if she is sure she can hit it (thus making her over all accuracy better). She is not considered a marksman.
Unique Magic: She is best at creating missile-like projectiles. She is also quite skilled at enchanting weapons.
Relatives: Both her parents are alive, however only her father fights in the war. Her mother stayed at home, helping to maintain supplies. She has no siblings.
Personality: She is not very patient. She can be very brutal, and is willing to hurt others to get what she wants. She can be a compassionate person, to the right people. Once befriended, she is loyal and willing to die to save her loved ones. She has an extraordinary temper, and she knows how to manipulate others, without them realizing.
'Catchphrase:' "Your first death wish, was when you trusted me."

If I may, I would like to include another character, to get another perspective.
Details:
Name: Nathaniel Becksworth
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Rank: He is a foot soldier in the King's Army.
Species: Human
Appearance: He has short, dirty-blonde hair. His eyes are a light blue. He is very strong, and semi-muscular. He is agile and can dart around obstacles with ease. He is not necessarily fast, but he has endurance.
Armor: He wears a full, silver chest-plate with a white tunic underneath. He wears brown, long, leather pants. His shoes are old and worn and can barely keep his feet from getting wet in the mud.
Weapons: He uses a standard sword.
Unique Magic Ability: He doesn't have any magic.
Relatives: His family died in a fire on their farm. Having no money, he was forced into the military, though he looks for every chance to escape the constant fighting.
Personality: He's an outgoing guy, who tries to be compassionate and helpful. He's a hard worker and usually doesn't make enemies with people. Though he is a bit of a loner, and spends a lot of his time pushing others away so he can grief on his own.
'Catchphrase:' "This isn't my choice to kill you."

The majestic elk's spirit rose from it's body, shimmering and transparent. It stared at Falathiel's face, then bowed it's head. The she-elf returned the gesture and began dragging the elk's limp body by the antlers, followed closely by the spirit.
After a while, she arrived at the enormous, century old oak tree Falathiel called home. Opening the door, she called out, "Thalion! Brother! Come help me!" her watery voice echoed through the massive hollow tree. "Perhaps he's gone off with Morcion," she thought aloud. She dragged the carcass of her kill to a small room that beheld hundreds of skins. She began to clean and cut the carcass, singing an old Elvish song as she worked:

Once
There was a time
When Elves got by fine
They together ruled the land
Hand in hand
But then one became jealous
While the other greedy
Then they both
Separated
Split the land in two
One was of Forest
The other Plains
Then the Humans arrived
Causing great pain
They started wars
Stole away treasures
Because of the Humans
We may never
Group together
Again

It had now been a great deal of time since Falathiel had arrived home, and she was nearly done with her gutting of the elk carcass. Her brother Thalion was never away from home this long, and Falathiel began to worry.
Once she had finished her work, she told the spirit of the elk to find him for her and tell him to return home. The spirit bowed it's grand antlers ad soared through the oak tree's walls, in search of Falathiel's younger brother.

I hear faint steps of another Plain Elf behind me. I can tell by the faint crunch of grass only to be heard by the trained ears. I turn instinctively to see another female elf standing only a few yards away. Her blonde hair waves in the wind, and she stares at me with a soft look of compassion; I hate that look.

"Gylil," she speaks softly, carefully, "They're about to interrogate the prisoner again."

"And, you are telling me this because?" I reply casually.

"We'll you are the Sargent," she defends, "All commanders of any rank must be present."

"Why would I want to watch that," I snort, "The only thing that happens is the prisoner gets hurt a little, he screams and holds the information in, and they stop. It's pointless."

"Gylil," she uses the same voice that one may use to a wild, unpredictable animal, "Can you just come to get this over with?" I sigh a pull myself to my feet. She nods and smiles at me, and she briskly turns and leads the way back to the camp.

It isn't a long trip, passing the edge of the forest as we walk. When we arrive I already see a circle of other elves gathered. In the center of it all sits a broad shouldered, forest elf. Commander Veryamaethon holds the prisoner's arms behind his back. I roll my eyes; what do they plan on doing this time.

I grip the hilt of my sheathed sword until my knuckles turn white. Another elf brings forward a small box, probably containing some kind of 'poisoned' blade.

Lieutenant Ehtyarion graciously accepts the box. He looks over to me and beckons me to him. Stiffly, I walk over to him. Ehtyarion offers me the box, but I shake my head and push it away. He gives me a confused look.

"So, you're going to take an entire day just to decide how to torture me?" The Forest Elf sneers. I can't take it any longer. I draw my short sword and push my way over to the prisoner.

I grab his arm, put my sword to his throat and whisper in his ear, "So who do you think you are Forest Elf?" My voice is calm and composed. It sounded almost cheery, but the seriousness of the remark made him tense.

"So I hear you're a tough soul," I continue, "I'll give you three chances to tell me what I want, got it? What's your name, Elf?"

It's obvious the concentration it takes him to keep his voice steady, "I won't tell." I resist a smile and swiftly flick my wrist. The blade come down on his arm, cutting a deep wound. He screams and tries struggle free, but I easily replace my sword at his throat.

"Wrong answer," I mock, "So I'll ask again: Name?"

He grits his teeth, but keeps silent. Once again, I strike him, this time on the back of his calf. He staggers and tries to fall back, to throw me off balance. I stand rigid, and I can feel his throat tighten, and it brings me a joy to see him in pain.

"You aren't very smart, Elf, are you?" I sneer, "We'll that's two out of three chances. So answer my question and I won't kill you."

He gasps for breath, blood running down his arm and leg, "Alright, alright. I'll tell you- just let me rest." I shove my elbow into his wound, and he shrieks again. I ignore Ehtyarion's words, saying its enough, to let him go.

"I need answers now," My voice is still cool and calm, and there is no hint of a threat.

"It's Thalion," he answers through gritted teeth.

"Do you fight for the Forrest Elves?"

"Yes."

"Who are your Generals?" I hiss.

"That's enough, Sargent!" Ehtyarion bellows. I remove my sword from his throat and drop Thalion. His knees buckle and he crumpled to the ground. I smile deviously as I walk away from his bloodied body; I had done my job.

The spirit was worried. It had bounded into the Plains Elves' territory, finding a clearing in which a large group of Plains Elves surrounded a Forest Elf. It could sense that this was Falathiel's brother, and he was in trouble. The spirit hovered in the trees, watching as a female Plains Elf approached him, weapon drawn.
She hurt him, forcing him to speak his name, 'Thorlain'. After the Elf left, two other Elves dragged him off in the opposite direction of the spirit. Not wanting to keep Falathiel waiting, the spirit hastily raced back towards the giant oak tree.
When it arrived, Falathiel had just finished preserving the carcass of the elk. The spirit glowed brightly, and Falathiel understood it's words: "Thalion is is grave danger! Woman Elf hurt him, stole him into Plains Elf territory!" Falathiel now felt a fear she had never experienced before. Her mind foggy, she grabbed her bow and arrows, laced up her boots, and ran out the door, forgetting completely to pack food or water, no caring that she was going to miss Ranger duty or trespass into Plains Elves' territory.
As she ran, the elk's spirit followed, determined to stay with her until her next kill. Tears raced down Falathiel's face, her mind on on thought: save Thalion! He had no one else to care for him, he was alone and lost in a dangerous place. She had to save him! And if she found that She-Elf, she would murder her on the spot!

I struggled as the two Elf guards grabbed my by the arms and began dragging me into the woods. Bad idea. I received a hard blow to the head, and the world turned black.

I awoke in a hanging metal cage with barely enough room for two Elves. I struggled to my feet. My leg was in immense pain, my leg bloodstained. Then I realized I was completely nude, my body exposed to everyone. Hastily, I covered myself, then realized nobody was there to see my shameful nudeness. I wondered if my sister, Falathiel, knew I was gone. probably not. She would think I was with my friends. I slid down to the floor of my cold, metal cage and sighed as it swung lightly side to side. A rare tear slid down my pale face, just a single one. I wanted my sister. I had never felt this young and afraid before.
"Fala?" I meekly called out. No answer. I sighed again, and closed my eyes. I didn't know how much time had passed when I heard footsteps.

Nathaniel
"Don't go too far Becksworth!" Lieutenant Webber called after me. The only response I had to his words was a small back wave as I began to trek through the forest. I didn't want to go, but I was the designated 'disposable' soldier sent on a hunting trip.

All the commanders apparently cannot go since they require training. I snort to myself, they just are afraid of running into elves. The part of me fascinated by elves somewhat wants me to run into one. Their grace and beauty, along with their connection to nature, almost wants me to meet one. However, from the stories I've heard, elves will scallop a human on sight.

I shake my head, Focus Nathan, you're on a hunting mission. I grip a small dagger in my arm, the only weapon I have to kill an animal with. I sigh, this is going to take a lot longer than I first thought it would.

I hear a rustling of leaves off in a direction left of me. Immediately I turn and listen. It's seems like a large creature, what ever it is. Slowly, I kneel down and part a bush, but my low point to the ground doesn't give me a very low vantage point. I continue to hear rustling and I start to walk forward.

I turn my head back and forth, trying desperately to find something. I slam hard into something. I fall back, half dazed, and when I open my eyes again I am face to face with, what looks like a Forest Elf.

"Say one word, and I will shoot," she whispers, "Now who are you?"

Gylil
Moonlight trickles into my small tent where I sleep. I can't stop thinking about him, that Forest Elf Thalion. He was short for a Forest Elf, but still talk compared to other Plain Elves. He had a good body, one right for extreme amounts of physical labor. If one was able to persuade him, maybe he would be a good addition to the army.

I heave myself to my feet. Quietly, I push my way out of the tent and into the chilly night air. Every time I exhale, I can see my breathe in front of me. I turn, and swiftly run into the forest. I am swift, but silent.

When I finally reach the forest I pause. I crouch down and look around, thinking to myself, The entrance has to be around here somewhere. I spot a slight glint of the moonlight on a smooth rock. I smile, There it is. I bounce over to the rock, and slip through a small hole beside it. For a moment, darkness surrounds me, as my eyes adjust to the sudden change of light. There is a small 'hallway-like' path way leading off to my left.

Without bothering to be quiet, I walk down the pathway and listen to the echo my footstep. It feels nice to be in charge. I remember years ago, I was the one cowering in that cage, awaiting my fate. When I round a corner I see him and smile mischievously.

"So we meet again, Forest Elf," I sneer to Thalion. He shivers violently, either from the immense cold or fear. A stack of clothes sits a few feet away. I take the pile and throw it into the cage. He just stared at me, as he waited for me to do something.

"Well don't just stand there like a startled doe," I growl, "Put it on!"

He looks at me, and he quickly scrambles to cover himself. I notice that no one had cleaned the wounds I had inflicted. That could be an easy weak point.

"What do you want from me?" He asks. His voice is timid, almost like a child's.
I don't answer him, instead I inspect him. His physical condition has dwindled slightly, and he seems to be starving. I can't help but pity him.

"In the morning, I'll make sure you're fed," I inform him and turn to leave. He sits back down and watches me. When I turn the corner again, I decide to stay until morning, just to make sure no one tries to free him.

Falathiel

My steel-tipped arrow was pointed at the human's chest, my grip on the crossbow steady. He stared at me, his mouth hanging open. "I will not say this again. Who are you?" I growled. Finally, he came to his senses. "Nathaniel, i'm a guard," He said, staring at my arrow. I tightened my grip on my crossbow, as it had slackened.
"What are you doing here, Human?" Every Elf was known to have a harsh hate for Humans. They were constantly robbing the Elves, attempting to gain power. "Scouting, please don't shoot me, I've always wanted to meet an Elf!" I found this Human's strong curiosity strange, and it set me on edge. "Yes, I suppose you have. Well, you're not stealing anything from me, bastard!" I narrowed my green eyes at him. He stepped back, quickly saying, " No, no! I'd never do that! Why are you here? Can I know your name?" I shook my head furiously, growling, "None of your business!Talk won't keep you alive much longer, Human." His eyes widened even more. "Please, don't! Can I help you with anything? Please, don't kill me!" For some reason, this Human intrigued me. I hesitated, then said, "If I let you live, you have to escort me to my destination. You must obey everything I say. And if you try to steal or kill me, I will murder you." He nodded. "Of course! I've got to go tell my leader-" "No," I interrupted, "We leave now, understand?" He nodded again. Slowly, I lowered my bow.
"What was your name again?" I asked. "Nathaniel." I turned around, saying over my shoulder, "Let's go. By the way, call me Fala."

Thalion

Blushing, I put my clothes back on. I wondered why she had said "I'll make sure you're fed in the morning". Had she pitied me? No, why would she pity me, a complete stranger? I watched her as she went, feeling a strange urge to want to be closer to her. He shook his head. Why would she, a Plains Elf, want to have a friendship with him, a Forest Elf? I sighed and closed my eyes once more.

Gylil
I don't know how long I've slept for, and I definitely didn't realize I was asleep until I hear an echo of footsteps. I have a crick in my neck and my face is cold from being pressed against the wall. I sigh and open my eyes to find two 'elf guards' with their swords pointed at my throat.

Neither of them say a word, and rage bubbles inside me. I try to get up, but one of them prods me and shoves me back down.

"Do you know who I am!" I roar, and I take their silence as a no. I push myself to my feet and draw my short sword. I hold my other hand out, ready to summon my magic if needed.

"I am Sargent Gylil," I hiss, "and if either of you make one more move, I will show you how I got my name and status."

The second soldier smiles, "Oh, Sargent! I'm sorry, didn't recognize you in the dim light." He elbows the other guard and they both remove their swords. I don't recognize the design on it, but I only believe it's the darkness playing tricks on me.

"What camp number are you two from?" I ask them, suspiciously.

The first guard goes wide eyed, but the second one saves him again, "There are no camp numbers, Sargent. We come from the river camp, six miles from here." I nod at them, convinced they're not intruders.

"Make sure you feed the prisoner," I inform them, "You don't want him dying on your watch." They both nod vigorously, and rush around the corner. Even though I still don't think something's right with the two guards, I brush it off, telling myself I'm just tired.

I pull myself out of the hole by the rock. As I go out I think I hear a rustling. I whip around, looking for anything, but I don't find something. I curse under my breathe and climb the tree, telling myself I'm just being paranoid. I balance myself on a tree branch and begin to fall asleep, hoping tomorrow, things will be better.

Nathaniel
My heart is racing as I followed the elf, called Fala. I not am sure how I should feel; scared out of my mind, or fascinated by her grace. A giant elf spirit also races behind Fala, sprinting beside me. It took all my strength to keep up with her agility, since she was able to twist and turn through the brush like it was open ground.

"Could you go any slower?" She growls.

"Um-," I hesitate, "Where do you want me to take you anyway?"

She whirls around, and glares at me, "I'll tell you when I'm ready." She still holds her crossbow loaded and swings it at me menacingly. For a while longer I follow her in peace. I listen to the swaying of leaves in the night, and the soft crackle of twigs and leaves crushed under my feet.

Finally she pauses and speaks, "Alright, so we're nearing Plain Elf territory. Around here somewhere is a camp or some kind of place that houses my brother. Got that?" I nod vigorously.

"Good," she continues, "So your job is to lead me to him."

My heart skips a beat, "I'm to lead you- what! I don't know wh-"

A mischievous smile creeps onto her face, "Well, you better learn fast, Human."
Bewildered, I notice her grip on her crossbow tighten, and I gulp. I laugh nervously and awkwardly take the lead. For a few hours I wander on the border of the forest and plains. Eventually, Fala lets out an irritated sigh.

"You know, if you're no use to me," she threatens, "There's no need to have you around." As I'm about to respond, she grabs my shirt and yanks me down. The giant elk crouches behind her as well.

I hear a small rustling and watch as another female elf pops out. She's not as large as Fala, so I assume she's a Plain Elf. She glances around, searching for something watching her. When she believes it's all clear she heads to a tree and begins to climb.
The elk spirit leans over to Fala's ear and says something I don't understand.

"That's who!" she whispers. I can see a fury in her eyes, and I get a gut feeling that we're one step closer to finding Fala's brother.

Falathiel

"Stay there," I whisper furiously at the Human. My spirit stays with him. Slowly, I weave my way through the shadows of the trees until I am one tree away from the She-Elf's hiding spot. It is hard to sense her in the shadows. Creeping into a bush, I activate my Spirit Seeing spell. She's gone. Where? My question is answered when a knife pushes into my throat. "Who are you?" She hisses. My crossbow is kicked away. I mumble, "S**t." The knife's pressure on my throat strengthens. "I'm not asking again, Elf!" I feel a warm liquid trickle down my throat. I begin to speak. "Fa-" Now. The knife's pressure is eased for a half second. I take advantage of this, and shove my armored elbow into the Plain's Elf face. She stumbles back. I get up on my feet and retrieve my crossbow. I see Nathaniel creeping forward. I shake my head vigorously, and he retreats. As the She-Elf gets up to her feet, I aim an arrow at her face. "Take one more step and you die," I growl. She smiles, unsheathing a short sword from her belt. "Your feisty. Too bad it won't last long." She runs at me, but I dodge. Not fast enough. I feel the blade cut through the tip of my exposed shoulder. Nathaniel runs at the Plains Elf, swinging his sword as he goes. "No!" I cry, but he ignores me. He catches the Elf by surprise, hitting her hard in the back. I shoot her knees before she crumples to the ground. Now she was paralyzed. "Get out of the way, idiot!" I roar. He stands there stupidly. I shove him out of the way. Using a tight piece of spare leather I had been carrying around, I ties the She-Elf's hands together behind her back and took her sword. I handed it to Nathaniel. "You'd better start talking, Elf," I growled.

Gylil
The Forest Elf shoves me against a tree trunk. Fury dances through her emerald eyes. Shame pulses through me, I got out-fought by a Human. I watch furiously as the pathetic excuse for a creature hold my precious Thorn.

The Forest Elf has her crossbow aimed at my neck, "Where is he?"

I force myself to grin, swallowing my pride, "I don't know who you're talking about."

"Don't toy with me, Elf," she hisses. I just purse my lips and stare at them. She glances at the human beside her, and whispers something. He looks bewildered, but walks towards me.

"Hurt me, Human, I dare you," I laugh. Cautiously, he places his hand against my knee where the arrow still is. It feels almost like a spark of electricity when his hand comes into contact with my skin. With a quick jerk, he pulls the arrow from my flesh. I bit back a scream, but the Human isn't in so much control. He shrieks and clutches his knee.

The Elf glares at me, "What did you do?"

"Simple battle magic," I reply in a cocky tone, "An easy destiny bond. Hurt me, hurt him. Kill me, kill him."

"I'll take my chances," she lets an arrow fly into my shoulder. I can't hold my pain in any longer, and a slam my head back into the tree trunk. The Human rolls on the forest floor, experiencing the same pain as I.

"So, I recommend you answer me," she snorts, "Who are you?"

I sigh, trying to resist. I try to brace myself for another arrow, but instead she kicks me in the gut. Finally I let out a scream.

Before she can do anything else, I submit, "Fine, I'm Sargent Gylil."

She nods thoughtfully, "Where's my brother Thalion?"

"He's underground somewhere, doing what, I'm not sure," I shrug, "But I have a gut feeling that he's being 'interrogated' by some humans right about now."

The greatest part of a writer’s time is spent in reading, in order to write; a man will turn over half a library to make one book.
