Wait, What's a Review Day?

A Review Day is a period of 24 hours where everyone on YWS tries to write as many reviews as they can. During this time, no new works can be submitted.

Each Review Day, we have an overall goal that we try to reach. This month we're going for 750 reviews!

Even if you only have time to write one review, please do join us! If everyone did just one review, we'd easily meet the goal.


Review Teams

To make things a little more interesting, members can join one of two Review Teams. You'll be able to join one beginning about 72 hours before Review Day -- just look out for the "Join a Review Team" link at the top of the sidebar on the home page.


When does it happen?

Due to things like orbital rotation, August 25th doesn't happen at the same time for everyone. So we instead base it off of GMT time.

Review Day thus begins this Sunday at 12:00 am GMT August 25th and goes until the following midnight. To make things confusing, daylight savings time is in effect for most of us! So for those in the UK, the celebration starts at 1 am.

To help with getting times right, a countdown clock will go up on the front page starting 72 hours prior to the fun.

United States & Canada
Atlantic: 9 pm (Saturday) to 9 pm (Sunday)
Eastern: 8 pm (Saturday) to 8 pm (Sunday)
Central: 7 pm (Saturday) to 7 pm (Sunday)
Mountain: 6 pm (Saturday) to 6 pm (Sunday)
Pacific: 5 pm (Saturday) to 5 pm (Sunday)

New Zealand: 1 pm (Sunday) to 1 pm (Monday)

Australia
Eastern: 10 am (Sunday) to 10 am (Monday)
Central: 9:30 am (Sunday) to 9:30 am (Monday)
Western: 8 am (Sunday) to 8 am (Monday)

India - Delhi: 5:30 (am) Sunday to 5:30 am (Monday)

I don't think I'll be able to participate, that's the day I'm moving back up to Dublin! But I wish everybody luck!

I will be participating! I'm new here, so if anyone has any tips for participating and winning and whatnot, I'd appreciate it.

@Albanafsagia just review! Keep the quality up, so you can get the max amount of it. Review from the green room, and just keep reviewing!

1. What is the purpose of teams?
2. Do many people wait until the day before Review Day to submit their work?

1. The purpose of teams is to give it that competitive element, and if you're on the winning review team you get a shiny trophy on your profile. However ultimately, winning doesn't really matter because as long as your review you've done something good and everyone gets a participation trophy which says how many reviews they've done .

2. Some people do although the point of review day is to make sure all work submitted in the last month gets at least two reviews, so anything posted in the last month should get reviews!

I'm excited for review day! I've never done anything like this before, its so cool how people from ALL around the world can join in on this! Can't wait, only 4 more days! ^.^
