Every now and then, you may find yourself in the middle of a long post only for your computer to suddenly lose power or for YWS to crash prior to post submission. This can be frustrating and extremely disheartening. But, no more! Auto saving of posts is back and better than ever!

As you soon as you start on a new topic, post, or review, YWS will automatically start backing it up. When this happens, you'll see a short message underneath the post saying "Message autosaved at such and such time." If the autosave fails, you'll also get a message to that effect.

To recover an autosaved message, you don't need to do anything. Just go back to whatever you were doing, and you'll see your message waiting for you. However, please treat this only as a fail-safe! Drafts are saved until you delete them. Autosaved messages are only saved for a week.

Yes! Autosave, a great help for those times when you would have normally lost a post. Glad we have it :)

Just a heads up: autosave is not working for posts when you hit the "quote" link. I'm working on the fix now.
Edit

And it's fixed.

Umm... Is it me or is this not working for me?

My long message in progress is autosaved.
My iPad runs out of battery.
I come back on, thinking that it is autosaved.
I start a new post and it doesn't appear....

NUUUUU!!! MY HARD WORK GONE!!!

Hi Gabbi, usually my autosave works if I hit back or if I go to the "Quick Reply", where it often stays.
I like you as an enemy, but I love you as a friend.

Just FYI, Nate, this is the most genius and wonderful thing anyone has done for me. Don't tell me this wasn't just for me: you clearly realized how many rude and frustrating things I had yelled at my computer in the short weeks before this feature followed my joining.

Especially considering how many times I've completely lost a long posting on certain other, less considerate sites (Cough, cough, Blackboard), I have new found appreciation for YWS.

~Skorlir

P.S.: Those moments I press backspace and accidentally go back in my browser history? Yeah, I didn't actually believe someone could fix those. Thank you.
