April Fools 2013 brought forth three pranks!
- YWS: Askew
- Mine?
- YWS: Buran

YWS: Askew rotated YWS by about 5 degrees, and could be undone by clicking the "I am a tab" tab. Overall, about 92 people did so. The effect looked best in Firefox, although it worked across all browsers; in Chrome, the text could be unreadable, and in IE, a weird dark shadow was surrounding the rotated area. As a result, YWS: Askew did not last long!

Inspired by Finding Nemo, which my nephews watch constantly, "Mine?" changed everyone's username to "Mine?". It also changed avatars to a picture of the seagulls from Finding Nemo, and you could activate this prank by clicking the "Do not click me!" tab. 297 people ignored this warning!

Both the "Do not click me!" and "I am a tab" tabs led you to the "Parrot Room." The Parrot Room subsequently became the fourth most popular page on the site; only the homepage, the forums, and notifications were more popular.

The last prank was YWS: Buran, named after the failed Soviet space shuttle program. As a quick note, the sequel to YWS: Apollo would be called YWS: Cassini and would be a feature update only.

That's about it! I threw this together at the last minute, so nothing too extensive, but there's always next year.

the askew just made me leave YWS and I almost didn't log on today. I don't deal with pranks well.

You're new? Great seas! Why haven't you gone to the Buddy System yet?

You're dealing with writers. The words "normal" and "usual occurrence" do not compute.

The Buran would be a cool thought if we had more members and you had a better revenue to do it with and it wasn't filled with jokes :P

And I thought that my computer was acting weird.

It is so sad that I was not online during the Nemo stuff.

Oh my God, Nate! xDD

You.. you.. UGH!

I knew the Mine? was a prank, but I thought the crooked thing was an actual site bug and Buran.. I almost cried when I saw that.

.. You are a genius, Nate. ;-; My pride has been wounded.

When I mentioned it to someone, they told me to go into the developer's tools and delete the rotate tag. So I did. And now I feel like I cheated. :P

That moment when you realize that you could see the site as you wish by changing inspect element {i just noticed that you can play with css and what not} but I like the way YWS looks now.
