We're back and with a new hosting provider! I looked around, and everything seems to have survive the move. Plus, the site even seems a bit faster to boot!

Took me longer than I had hoped because of the database. It's nearly 300 megs big, and it was extremely difficult just to back it up. Had to mess around with changing nameservers back and forth numerous times, but I think it's all good now.

Now that this is done, look for some of the changes I talked about soon. Won't do it today since I don't even want to be anywhere close to a computer for a little while, but I'm going to start working on it this week.

Welcome Back!

Lol, there does seem to be one error... something about headers already being sent. It's not a big deal since everything still works fine, but it'll have to be fixed I suppose :(

EDIT: It's fixed now

Oy, thanks again Nate... We couldn't even legitmately complain if it were gone a week - though I'd miss it, of course. Only another opportunity than you be glad YWS is here in the first.

Hey, uh, Nate? I've seen text in random places become all screwy with wierd symbols and such. I saw it in my sig and in somebody else's work. I think it may be a part of the transition. Maybe you should look at it and see what I mean. I've already manually fixed my sig, but I've seen the symbols in the story ARK in fantasy fiction.

It's the apostrophes and quote marks that are turning into symbols. It's part of the coding, I think.

As Waffles said, it's much faster. I noticed it especially with the WIKI fiction.

ugh

Looked into it and found out what the problem is: the old database was using a latin1 character set. The new/current database system uses a utf8 character set. Thus, some characters, like apostrophes, got jumbled. Unfortunately, knowing what happened brings me no closer to solving the problem.

No idea if it's widespread or not yet. If it is, then I'll figure out a way to fix it. If it's not, then I'll still fix, only much later.

Yay, it's back!

Only glitch that I've seen so far is that the picture you click as a shortcut for people's profiles is all x-ed out. Not sure if that's just me, though.
