The link to the list of icons never has worked for me, but I looked around there today and did you know all of these icons are available for your enjoyment!

(they can also be modified to be larger, change color, or even spin!)

Code: Select all
[icon]arrow[/icon]
[icon]bell[/icon]
[icon]bookmark[/icon]
[icon]calendar[/icon]
[icon]globe[/icon]
[icon]comment[/icon]
[icon]flag[/icon]
[icon]circle[/icon]
[icon]heart[/icon]
[icon]lightbulb[/icon]
[icon]plane[/icon]
[icon]smile[/icon]
[icon]money[/icon]
[icon]thumbs-up[/icon]
[icon]coffee[/icon]
[icon]lemon[/icon]
[icon]trophy[/icon]
[icon]paste[/icon]
[icon]star[/icon]
[icon]double-angle-down[/icon]

Nate explains how to make them spin in this post -> here by adding "icon-spin" to whatever icon you're working with.

Code: Select all
[color=darkcyan][size=200][icon]smile icon-spin[/icon][/size][/color]
i can't love you if you don't know the difference between teal & dark cyan

Did you know you can turn an image into a link?

For example:
Image

Code: Select all
[url=https://www.youngwriterssociety.com/index.php][img]https://waylandlibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/yws_logo1-300x157.png[/img][/url]

Some people have asked me how to post text-based smileys without activating the emoticons or full-out disabling them, so I thought I'd share the knowledge! Below is an example of what I mean:

    :D vs. :D
    :) vs. :)
    :( vs. :(
    ;) vs. ;)
    :o vs. :o
    :P vs. :P

The solution is simple: interrupt the code! Simply insert [i][/i], [b][/b], or [u][/u] (or whatever BBCode you want, really) between the smile.

Here is a typed out example:

Code: Select all
:[i][/i]D
:[i][/i])
:[i][/i](
;[i][/i])
:[i][/i]o
:[i][/i]P

I hope this helps!

If you want to test it out, feel free to drop some smiles on your wall. :)

I won't try to summarize how to use the list code in this post, but I did want to share a link to the helpful guide that @Vincian made on the subject! Here's a link to an in-depth guide on everything list-related - from indenting to what symbol shows up in the list. It's really helpful, so I highly recommend checking it out! :)

Hello. When I copy paste something on YWS from any other app, the font is not copy-pasted. How to copy paste including the font?

@ForeverYoung299 Unfortunately you can not usually copy paste font type - I've sometimes seen people successfully copy-paste some types of font into the publishing center but I'm not quite sure what they're doing to do that.

To preserve your font style you can upload your text as a picture or use a site like fancy font generator online (which seems like it should be used sparingly because it messes with the site coding and often gives you an error report, but gets you cool fonts 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 or 𝓁𝒾𝓀𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 )

Thought these would be good to add to this thread! Throughout the years Nate has added a few neat things we can do with font types! :D

Harry Potter Text

Code: Select all
[potter]Harry Potter Text[/potter]

Super Spooky Scary Text

Code: Select all
[scary]Super Spooky Scary Text[/scary]

Tis the Season To Be Jolly Text
Code: Select all
[snow]Tis the Season To Be Jolly Text[/snow]

honestly no clue about this one, but it lets you type in large serif font
(ha does not show as serif font on my phone, but does on my computer ~ so, no clue there)
Code: Select all
[pokemon]honestly no clue about this one, but it lets you type in large serif font[/pokemon]

Enjoy these! :)
