So, I usually write middle-grade fantasy. And now I've got an idea of modern Grim reapers. They start working when they turn thirteen, collecting souls which didn't return to shadowland after their lives.
The problem is, now that I think about it, it sounds too Young adult-ish. But I'm not involving any romance or something, so maybe it would be not so appropriate. I really need an opinion about if it's appropriate or not. So, what do you think about it?

Write it however the story wants to be written.

The story could take a darker turn, which could mean it goes up to adult fantasy. Or, you write a YA. No real shame in that, considering the size of the market.

See where it takes you after a draft or two. Let it live, else you'll not have the best story you could have.
