I've wanted to put together an actual collection of my poetry for a while now, containing some of my old and new poems. This is mostly a personal project, follow along if you like.
A lot of the poetry will be centered around my own life experiences, if you've read my poetry before you know what to expect.

In time, I'll come back and make this look nicer and more polished. But for now, this will do.

I thought I'd start this project here, with a community I've known and love and hopefully that alone enough will motivate me enough to keep going. <3

The schedule, much like my presence on this site will also be pretty erratic. I might post 5 poems in a day, I might post one poem every five months. I guess we won't know, and that's part of the thrill right?

that summer you said, i taught you how
to breathe, scattered warmth like simmered wine
of star anise and cinnamon.

that summer the pavement grew hot
beneath the sun, its unrelenting heat forced
even the tiniest seed to bloom
covering the path we walked with gentle
greenery, that was not there before

that summer the air, thick with youthful
energy sprawled across the season,
stretching itself like sunflowers drinking in the
eager rays of the sun. our limbs outstretched, hands
mapping out a vision of an uncertain future
bathed in phosphenes.

but did you know, that summer i could barely breathe.
struggling for a breath, an everburning kerosene lamp
in the bright summer light.

that summer, i was icarus
recasting fall as flight,
fire as light.

that summer i drowned beneath the light
that illuminated your path.

"i'm terrified of the sun", i said,
of its scintillating warmth, and how it drove
icarus to fly and fly and fly and fly and fly.
i'm terrified of the sun, i said. becaues i am a being
in constant motion.
a circumpolar star trapped in an orbit
not of its own making.
i am terrified of the sun, and
how it would consume me in the most loving of ways
the same way the ocean
caresses the sand each time it lapses and falls.and leave
no trace of its mark behind.

so let's burn moonlight you say, let's burn moonlight
where the sun cannot reach
and trace
constellations in the sky. let's burn moonglight, and watch blue flowers
bloom from your chest in delicate shades of chiaroscuro.
let's burn moonlight as i trail fingers down your chest, in the waning light
let's burn moonlight, where the the sun cannot reach
and let me be consumed in the most loving of ways.

That awkward moment when you jump out a window because your friend jumped out a window, then you remember that your other friend can fly.
