1)

the strings of lights blink pink, red,
yellow splotches, over a faint horizon

your eyelids flash with every
color change, a dramatic retelling

of how the midnight blue sky allowed
the yellow sphere to leave that impression

2a)

pulchritudinous

she only has a a sense, far fancier
than that of a sparkling boa draped
over a shoulder in a 20’s theme party

but there does let lie a certain familiar
feeling with vocabulary words that
bounce off the page, and she falls

further in love with every syllable
that stretches everything she sees
in the world and somehow makes a

smudge on the side of a picture
frame astounding in only her mind.

2b)

pulchritudinous:

1) a beauty unlike any other that probably
appears in a rare kind of person,
more likely in a fairy tale that started as
something real but then dissolved through
oral tales and the tricky urge in people
to over-exaggerate anything that might
be of interest, but in this case, this might be true

2) perhaps something akin to a very
desirable characteristic or an attractive
ideal that draws someone in and never
lets them free of that tight cage,
one that you yourself might be trapped
in currently because when you look at her face,
her eyes are the storm-driven seas,
and her hair sways in the wind,
as close to a grassy field on a
summer day that you never want to leave

3) it's her, always her, only her,
that look on her face when you compliment
her writing style, and the way her words
swirl with every flick of her wrist,
even in a simply typing form
because every chunk of letters arranged
to be read spokes solely of her,
of her as a being, as her soul

4) and you've come to realize that
from your perch in the clouds,
you might see what others do not,
what others could not, but you
wear that badge with pride because
you look down at her with what
the others claim are yellow stars
in your own eyes, and they rain down
alongside every dark storm cloud,
as a final sign of your love for the
girl with a bejeweled heart.

3)

the petals on my rose are falling off,
while the color has already leaked away,
and i can still trace where the bursts
of floral pink resided, to then the furthermost
tips that it can barely be seen, for the
shell color has faded for that of an
egg-white that captivates me even now,
with the bud receding and the folds unraveling.

4) flurry

for there are so many things here you cling to
last of all the sun-pierced, short dandelion weeds
under your small feet staining your wool socks but

rather than you leave the mess of a grass field,
rain poured down on both of our heads to warn us
yet you stay, sparkling with glee even as you shudder.

6) this doesn't have a true title because i'm tired

i'm doing okay.

see i wasn't lying --
not really

because i don't even know
how i am feeling, for
there is this building dread
inside of me with every
news report and walk outside
and i'm stuck with him,
plagued by chronic pain
and is anxious but says
i'm not empathetic because
i laughed at the home
speaker not working for him,
and i didn't know that he
really did want the meditation
music to work because i
wasn't looking at his face
since i have been trying to
stop staring at people's faces
to watch for their emotions
and expressions.

but now i think i have to keep
track of faces and people even
more than i had before as
he is also a light fuse at the
end of his wire everyday even
though his smiles might deny
the eventual fate the day seems
to turn into misery, and my
she tells me i need to be
even more patient but it's not
like they would ever be more
patient with me and still treat
me like a child when i'm an
adult and i have never wished
to move out this strongly before
and i can't tell if that makes me
a bad child or someone who
wants to not stay up for hours
on end, dreading the next
morning already.

Patience is the strength of the weak, impatience is the weakness of the strong.
