One of my favorite words is Rapture.

It's such a bold, fiery word and its meaning is wonderful: A feeling of intense euphoria, passion, or emotion. And additionally, it's used to describe the second coming of Christ.

The Hebrew language is also the most beautiful language I've encountered for its lyrical, natural, rustic sound.

Neshama (נשמה) means "soul."

Ish (איש) and Isha (אשה) mean "man" and "woman."

Havah (חַוָּה) means "life" or "life-giver." In English, it was translated to "Eve."

Amen (אָמֵן) means "it shall be so" or "truly."

Elyon (עליון) means "God Most High."

El Shaddai (אל שדי) means "God Almighty."

Ruah Ha Kadosh (רוח הקודש) means "Holy Spirit."

Adonai (אֲדֹנָי) means "My Lord."

Ehyeh (אהיה) means "I am."

Even negative words sound beautiful to me:

Be'elzebub (בעל זבוב) means "Lord of the Flies."

Here's a nice secular word for all the unbelievers: watercress.

For me this is an example of a word whose sound is more appealing than the thing it describes, although it describes something pretty appealing. It's a trisyllable word with a rhythm of one stressed syllable followed by two unstrrssed (a dactyl i think its called), giving the listener a sense of excitement followed by calm.

I hear this word and the images that come to mind are of nature, flowing brooks, still ponds and lush forests. The "hiss" of the cress part of the word reminds me of the ocean or the wind.
First you will awake in disbelief, then
in sadness and grief and when you wake
the last time, the forest you've been
looking for will turn out to be
right in the middle of your chest.

You can appreciate words even if they have religious significance. Goodness.

Who said you couldn't? I agree with you rapture is a cool sounding word. But when I think of beautiful words I think of the sound of the word itself and not the meaning.

in sadness and grief and when you wake
the last time, the forest you've been
looking for will turn out to be
right in the middle of your chest.

I know. I just felt like you were calling me out a little bit for posting a bunch of religious-themed words.

Quintessential is a fab word imo.

I'm also partial to:

frickdamn

butts

&

Sonder.

Spoiler! :
frickdamn & butts aren't as neat when they're capitalized
frickdamn, son.

I can see how you might feel that way, but if I said something that bothers you please leave a post on my wall or send me a message or something. This isn't the place for that type of discussion.

Watercress is a delicious word. My personal favourite-sounding words are ephemeral and anencephalia.

I think sanguine is a beautiful word. It just rolls of the tongue. Also epiphany, flamboyant and timid. I have no idea why I like those words so much. Oh, and onomatopoeia is a pretty cool word as well xD
