I was watching Donnie Darko, which for the record is one of my very favorite movies right after Fight Club, and I got stuck thinking of words after hearing the english-teacher Karen Pomeroy say the following;

"This famous linguist once said that of all the phrases in the English language, of all the endless combinations of words in all of history, that Cellar Door is the most beautiful"

So... what do you guys think? What is the most beautiful word, singel or combined? I agree that cellar door indeed is very beautiful... But there must be more!

Thouuughts?
"Some say the world will end in fire;
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice." - Robert Frost

Sleep. No other word shall bring such peace, even if sleep is wrought with frights - it's better than reality's fears.

Hope. Because it makes me think of a little bird (Hope Is the Thing with Feathers) and because there are few things in the world as powerful as hope. It keeps us going.

I have always felt the word "Beautiful" came of the tongue as wonderfully as its definition.

I have never liked sleep. It steals so much time bit I agree that it is a nice word. I like words with L:s.

Hope, the meaning is beautiful but the word itself I believe is a little cut off short and snappy.

Totally agrees on the Beautiful.

I like the word Nightingale... It rolls so smoothly and sounds a bit mysterious. And Melody, that's a nice one too

My favorite word is "serendipity -" it means 'finding something good when looking for something else.'

I agree that beautiful is a very beautiful word. I quite like the word "hello" because it makes me think of the happiness of seeing someone again after a long time apart.

Shenanigans! is indeed a brilliant word.

Cellar door is also lovely, and I totally just found a thing talking about how it looks lovelier if you write it Selladore.

Lullaby is a good one for the Ls (and Ls are wonderful things).

And defenestration, which I came upon while reading that link above, is not necessarily pretty, but it is made of awesome.
