If anyone else is like me, you read slow and wish you read faster. I found this and thought it might help others train their eyes:

Reading Accelerator.

After a while it just hurts. I got as high as 675, or something.

I only tried it for like a minute or two, but when it got to around 500 i just gave up. I don't know how you managed at 675.

You can't read the words in your head, just look at them. As my friend told me, don't doubt the power of your mind. You can remember the word you just read for a while, long enough to make sense of things! Its real impressive.

You can't read the words in your head, just look at them.

It's sort of like when you're trying to understand a second language: if you stop after every word to think of how it's conjugated and what it means, you'll be lost in the conversation. But once, for example, you stop thinking "silla. Okay, that means chair. Oh! I know what a chair is!" (Spanish) and jump right from hearing "silla" to even bypassing the "I know what a chair is!" and accepting the fact that that is what the word/thing is, the whole process speeds up. It's like a zone you've got to be in, sometimes.

If you try to identify each individual word, your eyes will bug out of your head. But if you accept the text as a whole, you'll get most of it (I was able to read between 850-1000 words/min).

Very cool, Suz. :D

*eyes have expanded to double their original size*

Wow...

I still see flashing words.

I got to 462 or something like that. Not that I understood all of it though.

667!

Eep. One digit away from 666! I must be devil's spawn.

I got up to 500 and then stopped. I probably could've gone higher, but I was cheating because I used something that I wrote very recently.

But it's cool!

Hrrmm, I got 875 first go, but I was using something I've read over a few times, and wrote myself. On 1000 it was quite a bit harder, but I still understood, I think... Later, when I'm running on more sleep, I'll totally try this again, and do better. ^^

Edit: Got to 1000 while reading about fish. xD

Last attempt: Greek mythology, 1200-1500 wpm

I got up to 1500 before I was like, Okay, now it's just a bunch of black lines on the screen. xD

Hahaha. If you go beyong 6000 the thing breaks and goes "Infinity words per minute." :smt081

I posted a downloadable version of this a while back.

Check back a few pages to find it. Or search. Dunno.
