I haven't been rejected...because I haven't submitted anything (yet)!

There's T-shirts? That is way cool 8)

Another question...when is the deadline for submissions?

And yet another...where can I buy the journal and other paraphernalia?
everything i loved
became everything i lost.

I think you would have only been rejected had you submitted poetry. I know they had a real lack of short stories.

I do believe the deadline has passed.

I'm very disappointed that I didn't have time to write up something suitable for the Journal, the PG rating is a serious killer for me lol. I think I sent something in, but I very much doubt it will go anywhere.

The fact that some of my acceptable pieces are currently in the process of being selected (here's to hoping, lol) for other anthologies (with at least one being shortlisted, yay!) I was limited in what I could submit.

Hopefully it sells well enough to warrant another Journal next year, to which I'll definetly try for.

Shortage? Would there be time for me to get in some short stories? I've been flooded with ideas since university (finally!) finished for the year, I could definetly write something up...

Ah, guess its a long shot.

It would probably be too "dark" anyhow.

Yes it would have to be readable for a 13-year-old... I would say contact Brad.

Is my usual stuff suitable for a 13-year old? I'm not talking about Cupid's Madness, which was R for a reason, but things like 'To Escape A Dream' 'Strands of Darkness' or 'Monster'? Dark, but not graphic, never that.

I really don't know.

Guess I'll ask Brad, thanks 'dettie.

That's depressing. How do you know if your piece really was publishable or not then?

Even if there was a shortage, its not like something crap would be selected, so take heart. We definetly wouldn't want the Journal to come off poorly so I think each story would have been carefully examined.

Jigs right; I don't think something would have been taken just because it was something. Nate says there is a lot of good stuff in it, and I believe him.

All,

Let me assuage any concerns you may have about the quality of the writing: I am quite pleased with the array of submissions we received (many people submitted multiple items for review, though at most one was accepted): as a young writers' journal, I don't think that what we're aiming for is necessarily stellar writing (in comparison to journals like, say, Glimmer Train) but to showcase the best writing amongst the age range, and for what it's worth, all of the accepted submissions have kicked ass in comparison to any other publication of young writers that I have read (many, in fact; all of which are either nauseatingly clichéd or angsty navel-gazing, or traverse the two quicker than you can says "This sucks").

I think if we get the word out about the Lit Journal, and people actually read the quality literature inside it, we can make it even better in future editions.

Cheers!
Brad

I know! I'm checking mine constantly...I only had time to write something that prolly was complete crud, but I do like the story. I. Just. Need. To. Find. Out.

Not that I'm impatient or anything! ;)
