Who: monkeys and dragons
What: a battle of the wits
Where: the YWS chat
When: This Monday-Friday at 4:00 EST PM / 3:00 CST
Why: in honor of our birthday

Come support your side in a test of intelligence (and how well you can look up stuff on Google  ). At the time listed above, I will be hosting the YWS Birthday Quiz Shows which will pit the supporters of monkeys versus supporters of dragons.

There'll be a separate room from the lounge, so hopefully there will be less interruptions. If you're on the monkeys team, I ask that you turn your chat color to green and if you're on the dragons team please turn your chat color to red. That way I can differentiate between teams for scoring purposes.

Each night I will have fifteen questions (not multiple choice) that any member can type in as quickly as they can. The majority of questions will be about literature, with some other stuff mixed in. Spelling counts! We are the YWS after all, and I think it is the only fair way to settle any disputes.

So make sure you come support your side. Who will win the battle of the wits: dragons or monkeys?

Some ground rules:

1. You may look up things online. In fact, most of the questions I wrote are geared toward being a little harder so people might have to look them up unless you might know the answer off the top of your head, in which you have an advantage.

2. Spelling counts. You're allowed to look things up, so spelling shouldn't be a problem. That way I shouldn't have any issues with answers that might be considered correct, but are spelled way off.

3. When I ask for the name of a person or book, I need the full name.

Ooooh, sounds interesting. I might be able to compete on one of the days but half eleven is a little late so I can't promise anything.

Well, Dragons will win of course...

I'll try to make it one day - Friday I think I can pretty much definitely turn up, and maybe another day or two, but I can't make any promises.

I think I might be able to move it to 4 EST/ 3 CST if that would be more convenient for UK players. I have to work around classes, so I was trying to find a time that would be convenient for me as well as other people.

That would certainly be more conveniant for UK players but we'll understand if it's not possible.

Any idea of a time for us in New Zealand? I'd like to turn up if possible, but time zones seem to be beyond me XD
Got a poem or short story you want me to critique?

I suck at them too. I looked at a conversion thing and it said 10 AM in Wellington, but I'm not sure if that's right or wrong...

Nice job, everyone!

Okay, so the first day of the YWS Quiz Show went well. On the monkeys side we had Hunter, Via, and for a little bit, Suzanne. On the dragons side we had kitty15, twit, Reakeda, and for a short while Elven_Maiden.

The monkeys took a quick lead, but the dragons pulled ahead. For a while, it seemed like the monkeys had computer problems brought upon by dragon's breath.

The dragons are up 9 to 6, so tomorrow help support your side by playing!

Splendid!

I'm useful for Dr Suess questions, but that's about it!
