TIME Magazine published a list of the most influential people of the year the other day, and the results are somewhat... surprising!

What we have to remember is that this was based on fan votes.

Here are the top 10:

10. Bono
9. Shigeru Miyamoto
8. Kiefer Sutherland
7. Richard Dawkins
6. JK Rowling
5. Sidney Crosby
4. Dane Cook
3. Sanjaya Malakar
2. Stephen Colbert
1. Rain

That is an insult to humanity.

I don't think I'm directly influenced by any of them, except Bono.

Dunno who half those people are, and I'm definately not influenced by ANY of them... If I'm gonna be influenced by anyone, it's people in history, not some modern-day dude.

I've never even heard of most of them. It's a little hard to be influenced by people you don't know about. People who influence me are... well... um... I've never really thought about it before...

There is something wrong when Sanjaya Malakar and Dane Cook are two of the top 4 most influential people----not that I don't love Dane Cook.

I agree...Bono is the only one worth having on the list.

*desk/head* Okay, so humanity's farther gone than I thought...anyone have a pair of REALLY BIG PADDLES! (that's what they do when a person goes into cardiac arrest, yes?). Or rather...anyone got a really big coffin? *is disgusted*

I remember seeing on the news that everyone was surprised that Bush wasn't on the list. I, too, was surprised. I harbor a rather strong dislike for the man, but still, it's a list of influential people, not a list of cool people. What do you guys think?

Yes, as much as I dislike them, certain politicians should be high up.

And just to be clear, the one I posted is the one people voted for. Thus - Sanjaya.

I was a little surprised as well that Bush wasn't on the list since he's quote/unquote the leader of the free world (political preferences aside). I also found it interesting that Osama Bin Laden made the list.

By the way, did anyone see the picture of Pope Benedict XVI? I don't think I've ever seen a pope wearing sunglasses before (even though I'm sure they do).

I though Queen Elizabeth's quote was funny: "You look just like the Queen!" someone says. "How very reassuring" she reples.

P.S. I voted for you, Snoink!

Anybody care to explain to me why Reagan and Thatcher aren't on there? Yamamoto? Any one of another hundred historical figures?
