The current system of junior writer, writer, senior writer, novelist, speaker of the forum was devised back when YWS first came into being, and back then, the number of posts required for speaker of the forum (500) seemed huge.

500 is still huge, but there are a huge number of people with way above that. So I want to add a new rank; one that kicks in at 2000 posts. The problem is, what should it be called?

Yeah, I do agree--something needs to change. Maybe instead of adding a new rank, you could simply increase the current ranks by a factor of 4.

Otherwise, I'd wait until a mascot is decided upon, and use something relating to them--e.g., Monkey Tamer?

This would give me something to work for.

And I think it would be cute if they were mascot themed, but why this one and not all the others? The others are just writing/forum themed. Not that I'm complaining! :-) Just pointing something out.

I agree we should add another rank. Maybe one for each thousand or something even. 1000, 2000, 3000, etc.

Mascot naming would definitely be exciting :D

Who wants their rank to be chunky monkey?!?!

Hmm. Something to do with the Olympics. 2000 is a mighty big number.

but 2001 is even greater! XD

What of... "Forum Addict" or "When posting becomes Substance Abuse" Okay, that last one is kind of long...

But you get the general theme :-D

I agree that new ranks should come in. I've been a member for what, two months? And I'm already a Speaker of the Forum. I thought that 500 posts was a lot when I joined, but when I got there, it was like...wow, that wasn't satisfying at all.

Alternately, we could just have...no ranks...I mean, what purpose do they serve? Hmm.

Chunky Monkey and Forum Addict both sound entertaining. :)

I've got an idea. How about "Master Writer" or something like that. Cause you got to admit, if you do get to 2000 posts you deserve to have the word "Master" or "Ultimate" in your rank name.

I think master should be used around 5,000. 2000 really isn't that big. I'm 700 from it. Besides, we need something for Snoink to go toward XD Although I forget exactly how many posts she has now...

Glad to see you agree with me Collie!
