Charlie Brown and the great pumpkin are all trash.

Objectively incorrect opinion.

And what about Nightmare Before Christmas?!

Are we talking family-friendly Halloween movies or horror movies? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

@Meshugenah ->> Halloweenteen is millennial garbage. And yes, I just called you a millennial! ;)

@Iggy ->> Both, but it has to be Halloween horror -- the definition of which I will change continually according to how it best suits my argument. For example, The Shining. Great horror film, but definitely not a Halloween horror film. On the other hand, there's the Blair Witch Project, which is Halloween horror and is awful.

Ahem.

The Little Vampire
Casper
Corpse Bride
The Addams Family
Hotel Transylvania
Carrie

^associated with Halloween movies that are all amazing and better than Hocus Pocus.
Although, I do love Hocus Pocus so I can't argue too much

@Nate halloween horror is an extremely relative term once you move into more classic movies, which can be applied to multiple scenarios. If you want to disqualify this short talk on classic Universal Horror, go ahead, but here's a few of my commentaries.

I'm ashamed of everyone here for totally forgetting classic Universal Horror pictures. Yes, every single one is B roll by today's standards but for the sake of nostalgia and Florida pride:

Creature from the Black Lagoon

The Creature series is pretty great, especially as someone from south Florida who has met way too many tourists thinking like things might be real. Bro, they probably are tbh, it's Florida.
The Creature series is also regarded as one of the last true Universal monsters, which was especially risky taking place in the 1950s.

And then maybe Abbott and Costello Meet [blank], which was a pretty good series.
First one was Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, where they actually had the big 3 Universal Horror Monsters. For a film like this to be made, it's actually really amazing because of the drama going on with Universal at the time. And that fairy tale monster movies were on the way out for sci-fi and more imaginative things like those that Hitchcock and Karloff took on in the surrealism pieces.

Anyone else remember "Halloweentown"? Probably before the time of some of you kids here, but that was one I grew up watching. If I remember correctly, it had Debbie Reynolds in it.
