Jeopardy has a long tradition on American TV game shows. Here on YWS, we play it a little differently.

Below you can see how a game of jeopardy has been set up over the years, and then perhaps you can gain an understanding and be on your way to becoming a YWS Jeopardy champion!

Object of the Game

The game normally takes place in chat. The aim for each participant is to obtain the most amount of points by answering each trivia question correctly. There is no turn order for who goes first. Generally, the first to answer, wins the points!

Get a wrong answer however, and you will lose points!

Game Board

The game board looks like this:

A participant chooses a category and point-value.

Example: YWS 500!

The category of a question aligns with what is up at the top of the chart and reflects what the question will be about. For example, a "YWS" category suggests the question will be about anything and everything YWS-related.

The point-value of the question is how much that question is worth in terms of number of points gained. Beware though! Higher point values usually reflect the difficulty of the question, but not always.

Double Jeopardy! is when a question is worth DOUBLE the amount of points! These are usually hidden questions and make up about 1/10th of the board.

How to Play!

The board is displayed to the entire chat. The first person to say a CATEGORY/POINT value will be chosen as first participant.

1.) Based on the category and difficulty value the first-participant chose, an appropriate question will be displayed to all members of chat by the Game Moderators.

2.) All of chat will have a chance to answer the question displayed. The FIRST person to type the correct answer will get the points. Anyone who types in a WRONG answer will receive negative points. One must be fast AND accurate!

3.) The Participant who answers correctly first will choose a new category-point value and a new question will open up to the whole of chat. Step two and three gets repeated until all of the questions on the board have been asked.

4.) When Double-Jeopardy questions appear, the first to get the question correctly will receive double the points. Anyone who gets the question incorrectly will lose double the points!

5.) Points are tallied, and the winner with the most points receives a rare and unique trophy.

And that's how you play YWS Jeopardy! Best of luck to you all!
