Taylor Swift-"Lover" (this whole album is great but the singles were...a choice)
Taylor Swift/Andrew Lloyd Weber-"Beautiful Ghosts" (new song for the "Cats" soundtrack...the movie seems ridiculous but this song is so good)
Camila Cabello-singles from the new album but especially "Liar"
Halsey-"The Graveyard"
Lewis Capaldi-seems destined to be a one-hit wonder but I love his whole album
The Lumineers-"III" (if there was a Grammy for "happy-sounding song with depressing lyrics, "Gloria" would win for sure)
The Killers-various, but especially "Spaceman" and "When You Were Young"
"You do ill if you praise, but worse if you censure, what you do not understand." Leonardo Da Vinci

@niteowl -> Halsey's "Graveyard" is great!

I'm listing to Lauv & LANY - "Mean it" right now -- not sure I actually like this song? but I adore Lauv, so thus I'm listening to his new song on repeat.
you should know i am a time traveler &
there is no season as achingly temporary as now
but i have promised to return

The Pretty Reckless are always good, and I've recently revisited my Zeppelin and Pink Floyd playlists because I guess that's the direction 2020 is taking me in

Right now? Uh...

phpBB [media]

So, basically, some cyberpunk music, AKA music that displays synergies with technology, industry, or even dysfunctional society, because those are some of the themes that come with the movement. This particular one, Every Day is Night, is more on the technology side of things. It's a pretty relaxing one, too!

Oh, also, Demondice's latest album, Alkatraz! Not that I expect anyone here to know what that is, but hey, that's what sharing is for. Music video below!

Spoiler! :

Can we take a moment to acknowledge Mozart's the Queen of the Night Aria?

Yeah I might be a classical music nerd but also you should listen to Diana Damrau singing it. It is true art. Like it makes me weep at my own lack of talent but also the EMOTIONS!! Also skip to 0:40-1:20 for pure beautiful TALENT

In the Shadow of the Sword

It's Tom Holland's book on the founding of Islam, in which he argues that Islam did NOT, in fact, begin in Arabia, but actually began a few hundred years earlier in the border-regions between the Roman and Sassanian empires, and was ultimately a diffusion between Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, and the Arab pagan tradition.

It is a very convincing argument, and it makes sense, seeing as how the Koran depicts Mo as an illiterate nobody from the desert who had never heard of Christ before until he was visited by the Angel Gabriel.

Of course, in real life, Muhammad would have most certainly been well-acquainted with the Abrahamic tradition. More likely, the historical Muhammad was a highly literate, very wealthy Christian merchant (either from Palestine originally, or from Arabia & often made trips to Palestine) who never intended to form an entirely new religion. Rather, he set out to REFORM Christianity, the result of which was Islam.

So, in many ways, you could say that Mo was the very first protestant :P

It makes sense though. I've always viewed Islam as being less of an independent religion and more of a natural evolution of Christianity as it was practiced in Arabia & the Middle East during the age of Late Antiquity.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk...
