@Widdershins I always get different results too, based on which WIP I use. Or even depending on which draft I'm in.

The first chapter of Book Man also got Chuck Palahniuk, but I can't judge how accurate that is since I've never read any of his books. Apparently he wrote Fight Club, but of course this is based on style and diction, not content...

I write like H. P. Lovercraft! I posted chapters of Typo Alley and another thing I am working on and I got Lovercraft twice and two or three others once, so I think I write most like him.

Please wait, don't grow up yet- Douglas Adam

A super old project - Stephen King

Post-perpetual - H.P Lovecraft

Re:Miniscence- David Foster Wallace

Granted, I like all of these authors, apart from Lovecraft's books whom I haven't read yet. Though frankly, I don't seen any identical things. As @Widdershins said, how do they analyse this? Is it based on the style, the content, what exactly is it?

One Small Flame - Neil Gaiman, which is pretty cool.

Voices - David Foster Wallace, who I've never heard of.

As the World Falls - James Joyce

Glasses - also David Foster Wallace

I put some of my old (read: bad) stuff through, but I didn't get anyone I know.

Brazzaville got me David Foster Wallace.

Me typing three paragraphs of "beep beep I like mac n' cheese" and stupid rhymes like that got James Joyce.

I like this!
A short story I think I posted, Gone is not Forever-Chuck Palahniuk. (I don't know who he is.)
Magic's Will (which I really should go back to as my abandoned Last Man Standing project eventually)- Bram Stoker (Dracula!)

These are private WIPs that I haven't put any of on YWS yet...
The Promises We Made- Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy FTW!)
The Pit-Stephen King (Still need to read him but think I'll like him based on recommends.)
This Thing You Call Love-Stephanie Meyer (Considering it's a "attempting to fix the many issues with Twilight fanfic, I'm actually happy it emulates her style.)

So in general, pretty happy with my results. And Aria, that interview is fascinating. Thanks for the link!

How cool is this! :D

Yaaayyy! I got one of my favorite authors, Rudyard Kipling (The Jungle Book) for two very different short stories of mine and two of my Ordadus chapters, and Stephen King for another short story.

I was very excited to get these two authors, particularly the former, but when I submitted a poem and was rewarded with my most favorite author in the world: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes)!

Other results were Margaret Mitchell ( :D ), Dan Brown, and Kurt Vonnegut.

Out of these results, it is clear that my writing resembles Rudyard Kipling's the most!

My sci-fi short story WIP (not on YWS) got Anne Rice.

A private short story got L. Frank Baum.

A chapter from an unnamed story here on YWS got Cory Doctorow.

And last but not least a few paragraphs from my NaNo got Harry Harrison.

I've never read books from any of these authors, so I hope my writing being compared to them is a good thing!

Did some more:
A Legend of Colors got me Gertrude Stein (never heard of)
A Legend of Shadows got me Arther Clarke (2001: a Space Odyssey apparently)
Imaginary Friends got me Chuck Palahniuk (never heard of)
Theodore Sparks and the Conductor got me H.P. Lovecraft!
Timeblinks - part 1 got me Dan Brown (The DaVinci Code)

Spoiler! :
Imaginary Friends and Timeblinks - part 1 can be found in my portfolio. I probably won't be posting the Legend of stories but Theodore Sparks might get here some day.

Spoiler! :
XD I also entered "Hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi Hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiHi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hiv" and got Douglas Adams! Yay, one of my favorite authors! Though that seems a bit insulting that "Hi" over and over is similar to his writing... XD
