Inspired by the fantastic series by ScrewAttack regulars "Wiz" and "Boomstick", this thrad is meant to be a place where two opponents from fictional universes shall have their powers, abilities, and skills analyzed to see who shall survive a chance encounter with one another.

Rules:

-Each death battle must end with the victor either killing or incapacitating their opponent to a form of knockout.

-When analyzing a character, only the most recent, canon version of the character and their attributes will be used unless a specific version is chosen as a competitor

-Characters will not know of one another, unless it is canon. Even so, each death battle is a spontaneous scenario, negating any preparation time for countermeasures (Ex. Batman preparing a silver batarang to combat Dracula).

-The shall be no outsider assistance from allies, armies, or companions. Familiars only apply when they are used as a weapon, such as the Meisters and their partners from Soul Eater. Rule also applies to fusion techniques with other characters, like that from the Dragonball saga.

-Any fan submitted ideas for a death battle will met with scrutiny. Mainly, characters must seem relatively matched without one being over powering than the other.

This Week's Death Battle

Skeletor (1983) vs. Mumm-Ra (1985)

Yes, folks. Our Death Battle premiere is a battle of two, classic villains from the 1980s. One is Skeletor, the skull-headed foe of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The other is the Devil-Priest of Third Earth, and mummified enemy of the ThunderCats: Mumm-Ra!

Yet, who is the true master of the dark arts? We remind our audience that we shall only be analyzing these two sorcerers' abilities from their original cartoons, disregarding any subsequent films or comics concerning either. However, spinoff shows that still features these original incarnations will be supplementary information

Our first competitor is Skeletor. A ghoulish figure who rules the dark places of the planet Eternia, Skeletor is a power sorcerer who wishes to gain unimaginable power that is guarded within Castle Grayskull.

Skeletor's main abilities are those of his black magics. The conduit of this dark magic is his famed Havoc Staff. In a quick fight, Skeletor has been known to use the Havoc Staff to unless magical blasts of kinetic energy. Skeletor has been also shown to disperse similar blasts from his fingertips and his eye sockets without the use of the Havoc Staff.

Physically, Skeletor possesses a strong body similar to his foe, He-Man. While Skeletor has not been shown to persue physical combat with his enemies in the original cartoon, it can be inferred that Skeletor's physique denotes that he possesses some ability of above human strength.

Concerning his mental compacity, Skeletor is a genius. He was trained by Hordak, leader of an interstellar Horde, in the black arts, making him formidable when comes to knowledge of magic. It is shown throughout the series that Skeletor has the capability to create machines as well, contributing to his mental capacity. However, Skeletor has drawbacks: He is very egotistical and incompetent in most of schemes, usually being defeated by He-Man or the other Masters of The Universe.

Next is Mumm-Ra, the undead wizard of the Black Pyramid. He is forever the servant of the Ancient Spirits of Evil, four beings of eldritch power that use Mumm-Ra as a pawn to spread their wickedness throughout Third Earth.

In his normal state, Mumm-Ra appears as little more as an animated corpse. However, his centuries of undeath and servitude to the Ancient Spirits have allowed him to gain a vast knowledge of the dark arts from across the universe. He uses this knowledge in combat in the form of energy blasts, or to decieve his enemies by disguising himself. However, Mumm-Ra can call upon the Ancient Spirits to transform him into invigorated "Ever-Living" form, in which he uses his magic powers to fly and cast stronger bolts of magic at his enemies.

As a physical force, Mumm-Ra is only a threat in his Ever-Living form. In this form, he boasts a strong, muscular body. However, there are limits to this form. If Mumm-Ra expends the magical energy that grants him this ability, he will revert to his mummy form and retreat back to the Black Pyramid to rejuvenate in his sarcophagus. Mumm-Ra is also weakened by the sight of his own reflection, which repulses him enough to give the same effect as depleting his magic as the Ever-Living.

Mumm-Ra has used many mystical artifacts and weapons to battle the ThunderCats. However, the most iconic that we grant him for this Death Battle is the Sword of Plun-Darr. The Sword of Plun-Darr is a weapon from Thundera's rival world of Plun-Darr, home of the mutants. It is a two-bladed scimitar-like sword that can emit flames. Formerly the property of Ratilla of the Rat-Mutants, the Sword of Plun-Darr has been shown to go against the legendary Sword of Omens.

Cunning, deceitful, and manipulative, Mumm-Ra is the truest form of physical evil on Third Earth.
