There could be two forms of the Watchers. The new Watchers could be assigned to the mortals, just to make sure they can handle watching over people. Then, after a few years, or something, they are told to watch over magicians.

Oooh! I like that idea!

I'm thinking that this Watcher the story will be about will have just gotten done with the first few years of just watching someone.

Now...another question. Are the Watchers dead, like the White Lighters, or are they alive and they just live in a secret society where they learn how to be Watchers and then they Watch people and all that?

Also, what name(s) do you like the best?

Anrai
Tierra
Aetius
Erabus
Nahuati
Aella
Alvida
Acelin
Amun
Santavana (Avana for short)
Damalis
Damaris
Ilana
Kaanan
Kana
Keitha
Kezia
Althaia
Althea
Amaryllis
Arvinda
Briar
Eunan
Kai
Tipu

I really like the name Santavana, but I'm not 100% sure if I'll use that.

I also need to decide if the main character will be male or female. I'm not very good at writing male characters, so I guess it should be female.

I say alive, maybe children of other Watchers? =] And I say female, yay for feminism!

I like...

Briar, Kai, Kana, Damaris, Avana (but, santavana makes me think of "asante sana squash banana", and I would think "thank you very much squash banana" everytime I saw it.), Aella, Anrai, but not Tierra...I know someone named Tierra lol.

I was thinking the Watchers were alive, but another race.

Names:

Santavana (Avana for short) I like that you already have a nickname picked out.

Kaanan Kaan for short?

Briar Sorry, but it reminds me of a pricker bush. Aren't they called briers?

Kai Sorry, but I think that's been copyrighted. In Star Trek, it's a Bajoran term, close to nun.

LOL! I should TOTALLY do something like that!

"My name is Santavana."
"...Santawhat?"
"...Just call me Avana."

And the character should HATE her name. XD

Totally using Santavana as the main character's name. :D

Mmm, I agree. Do they age like normal humans? That'd be one of the differences between them and the White Lighters, I believe.

I got all of these names off of a baby name site. o.O Didn't know that the name Kai was (possibly) copyrighted. It's not one of my favorite names, any way.

It's definitely a nice name.
I'm wandering if the copyright covers that or not.

U.S. Patent Office wrote:What Is Not Protected by Copyright?

Several categories of material are generally not eligible for federal copyright protection. These include among others:

*Works that have not been fixed in a tangible form of expression (for example, choreographic works that have not been notated or recorded, or improvisational speeches or performances that have not been written or recorded)

*Titles, names, short phrases, and slogans; familiar symbols or designs; mere variations of typographic ornamentation, lettering, or coloring; mere listings of ingredients or contents

Tiles: Nun is a title, right? So, Kai wouldn't be copyrighted.
Name: Kai is being used as a name in your story.

Looks like it's fine after all. Sorry to scare you!
