Okay here we go:
Often people have no clue how to start their novel, we all have heard the term: start with a bang
well yes and no, starting with an active, action filled scene is a great but not for everything.(of course)
A really good example of a hook is starting off with a question, which relates to your plot and gets the reader thinking.
Another example is to throw the reader into the story with a abrupt and exciting scene.
There are more examples of course but here's not what to do.
1. do not start off with a huge info dump. it's like you have to grind through a history lesson before you start the story.
2. don't start with dialogue, it may work sometimes but it's best not to do it.
That's all i have for now, I may have more later but for now i hope this helps. :)
