I know it sounds odd, but they have a cool feature that lets you type in a meaning and it comes up with names that have that meaning. Their database is huge, with names from all over the world so you'll most likely come out with something better than the names we hear over and over again. I also like it because when you give a character a name that reflects their personality, your vision of them becomes a lot stronger.
Its just a prefered site of mine for coming up with names, but there's a few other goodens out there.

Anyway, good luck.

See all these links to similar topics:

There should be easily enough info there.

I second babynames.com. 'Tis my life saver, I tell you! Plus, I have this cool book, Character Development, that has a list of first and last names in the back, sorted by nationality.

But don't rush it and slap a random, unfitting name on them either! Once you write a little with your characters, a name might crop up that pins them perfectly. :D

When I'm looking for a name for a character, I go to this site: http://www.weddingvendors.com/baby-names/
it has tons of names.
And if you are looking for last names for characters
http://www.last-names.net/ is a good site.
Hope that helps!

Babynames.com!!! :D Yeah, that's awesome. Also, if you're looking for a good book that sorts names by origin, "The Character Naming Sourcebook" is an excellent resource.

Google '20,000 names' I forget the actual URL but it is a great site where you can find so many names depending on the nationality, which is great if your characters are from certain places (Germany, Russia, China etc.)
