Wow, they have an about the author forum? A place to ramble about myself!
Alright lets see, first off, I love to write (pretty much like every other person present). I also love sports: hockey, soccer, basketball, you name it, I like it. So yeah I am a pretty athletic kid. 6'1", athletic and well built, some say. So I would be the last person you would expect to be a writer, right? Right. Pretty much nobody aside from my family knows that I like to write. My friends don't know, and some of my relatives don't even know. Its kinda like I have an alter ego, cool eh? sort of. Now, you are probably thinking "this kid needs to get new friends if he cant even share with them one of his biggest passions", and I would undoubtably agree with you. however, it's complicated. When you don't look like the "Writer type" and you play alot of sports, and are really good at one of them (trying not to brag). You make friends with people of that sort. Now, my one friend who does know about my writing, lives back in new england, where I moved from. So there you have it, one of those semi-popular kids at school who is secretly a smart, inspired, and imaginative person. That might make you change the way you look at some of those popular kids at your school =).
Moving on. I love the outdoors. Absolutely love it. This everyone does know about me. I love to surf, snowboard, longboard, backpack, mountaineer, and travel. These are things that I can't live without. Some people describe me as an adrenaline junkie, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't know about you, and i use this line quite often "I'm just going to school to make money so that I can travel the world, and experience it what this earth has to offer" In a nutshell, thats really all I want to do. I don't want to make a ton of money, I just want to be able to travel. To not be stuck in one place doing the same thing everyday (aka going to high school). I want to work as a journalist for national geographic when I grow up, and if possible be an author as well. Ooh, and I want to move to New Zealand... random, but it is awesome there.
Some things that I Like and don't like about my life nowadays:
Lets start with the likes: I have alot of friends, am enjoying where i go to school this year so much more than last year, I am still playing hockey, and am getting to write about myself right now!
The don't likes: There has been a huge drought of writing for me this past year: I hated the school I went to and just could never seem to find the time to do it, I really am not a fan of where I live (it's very beautiful, but I prefer the north, and BIG mountains!) School has just become a real killer, the pressure to do well is really overwhelming; especially when I need to do well in order to go to my top college choices, another don't like would be my relationship status... boring I know. But hey, I would like to find some really cute, cool, brown haired girl to hang with, but hey maybe later?
This about the author is starting to get really long, and I wouldn't blame you if you stopped reading right now, but if you are brave, you will press onwards.
I am currently working on a novel, finished one last year, didnt like it. I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I always loved good fantasy books, and always got so attatched to the characters I used to be depressed when their stories would end. I am also kind of a freak about the environment, and i reflect my beliefs through the tales that I write. Some of my favorite authors would have to be Kenneth Oppel, Brian Jacques, and Cornelia Funke. I love all of there books. I could write alot more about me, but this piece is beginning to lose it's flow, and I am starting to just list off things. But there you have it, a brief look into my life. I have shared my alter ego with some of my friends here at yws (the ones who now know both sides of the equation)
