Hiya and welcome!

Just in case that other member did not go over the rules, here they are:

1- Review two works before posting any of your own. That helps spread the reviews around. A review being about three to six lines long. Plus, people are a lot more willing to look at your stuff if you've looked at theirs. ;) It's asked you always keep that 2:1 ratio

2- Minimize chat-speak. That means proper grammar, spelling and caps. Some abbreviations like lol are okay, just don't overdo it.

3- Rated works are what we like to see! If you rate your works (and it's not rated R) it will show up on the front page of YWS. You just might get more comments out of it. ;) Rated R works have the f-word and/or graphic scenes.

So, who was the member that recommended the best site on-line? ;)

If you have any questions, PM me.

Yay for members recommending the site!

If you like poetry, I have to throw in a plug for a poetry usergroup, Poetry Inspiration. :) Of course, there are also a whole ton of other usergroups; I'm sure you'd find one or two or ten that match your tastes. :)

PM me if you need help with anything or want a review!

Look forward to seeing you around!

:smt024 Hey, Matt! It's nice meeting you! ^^
I'm Claeren, and I hope to get to know you well! :smt083 ==> :smt077 Thought I'd give you a little help by directing you here: The Official Unofficial Guide to YWS or Young Writer's Society. Please read, you might find some interesting facts.
Also it would be greatly advised to go here as well. You'll find all the Guides posted there.
Here's a complete list of the Rules at YWS as we know them today:

1.) All stories and poems must be rated accordingly. If they have vulgar language, please rate them as 'R.'
2.) Keep all comments clean! For stories and poems, one may use vulgar language, but this is not the case with comments. All inappropiate comments will be edited.
3.) Members are asked to withold on submitting work until they post two reviews. After one has done, a member can submit as much work as he/she may like, although it is requested that one keeps the ratio of reviews to work to at least 2 to 1.
4.) If you are not a Mentor or a Moderator, then please do not act like one!
5.) Members should seek to improve other's writing skills.
6.) The administration reserves the right to delete posts and restrict access.
7.) This is a writers forum, and thus "netspeak" or "1337" is simply not allowed.

Or Chatango Lango as I like to call it! (Chat Lang for short. ^^)
This was written by Nate, so full credit goes to him. =)
What I'd like to know is...who was it that suggested this site to you? Please, do tell! I love to here the latest gossip! :smt109 Hehe!
Make sure to PM me if you have any questions or you want a review or something, kay? O-kay!

- Claeren

PS Is your name spelled with two t's or just one? My sister's husband's name is Mat and it's spelled with only one sooo...yea, it can get kinda confusing. :smt027 ==> ==> :smt083 (I never did anything. Nothing. Nothing at all... )

Hello, Matt!

Welcome to YWS.
This is a fantastic community with plenty of great members devoted to helping you improve and excel in your writing. Like those "bad" poems you mentioned? There are tons of people here that specialise in critiquing poetry! They could whip your poem into shape in no time! :D

You also write historical fiction? Fantastic! I really enjoy reading that, along with adventure.
Here's a link to the Historical Fiction forum, where you can read, review, and post historical fics.
And for good measure, here's the Action/Adventure Fiction forum as well. :D

Not only are there people here that will help your writing, but they will help you learn how to properly correct mistakes and consider new writing possibilities. Honestly, when I joined this site I had no idea what I was doing! Now, thanks to the help of a great community, my abilities have improved dramatically along with my understanding of writing.

Out of curiosity: who was your friend? I'd love to thank them for inviting another wonderful addition to the YWS family! :D

Happy writing! PM me if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat!

Bad poetry! Do not fear! YWS is the remedy for all of bad poetry!

However, I'm sure it's not really bad. We have some amazing poets who think their writing is horribly atrocious and such nonesense.

So, tell us a bit about yourself? I see you write historical fiction and adventure? You'll fit right in, then; we have some awesome history fanatics and adventure extrodinares. ;) Count on seeing them around.

Wondering why I'm an Instructor/Purple but I'm doing a Greeter/Blue's job? You've come during some of the craziest times, I must say. We're having a color war between Instructors, who normally review things and help around the literary forums, and the Greeters, who would on any other week be here, welcoming you. We've switched places for a week!

No fear, though. It shan't last.

Nice to meet you, and see you around!

Hey Matt! Welcome to YWS (I call it yewis hehehe)!

Wow, historical fiction, eh? That's awesome! There are a few members on here who specialise on that type of stuff.

See my name? See how it's purple like that? That means that I am an instructor. I help people with critiques and advice on their writing. I mostly work with poetry, so if you want to improve your so called "bad poetry" then send me a message!

See you around!
