Hope this is the right spot, lol.

Just signed up today, thought I would snoop around and get a feel for the place. I'm Harry, 31 years old--so I hope that qualifies me to be called a young writer.

Have a good day everyone!

Barely. But if you're just looking for a place that has a bunch of great writing tips, you've come to the right place.

Two rules you should know:

1-Review two pieces before posting anything of your own. Even once you get settled down here and post more stuff it's asked you always keep that 2:1 ratio.
2- Cut the chat speak. Some abbreviations are okay, just don't overdo it.

Other then that, we are a weird, wacky and wonderful bunch!

What genres do you like to read/write? Any favourite authors? Books?

PM me if you need anything.

Thirty one years old? Really? That's new, I don't think I've ever seen anyone on here over twenty four or so =D

Well, regardless, welcome to YWS Harry, I'm Lupe and, along with everyone else here, I'm here to help if you ever need it. The set up is pretty basic, the two forums are the Community and the Writing forums. I don't want to tell you everything about the site, you're smart enough to figure it out, but those are where you want to start. Rosey gave the rules you need to start out with but reading the rest of them is wonderful.

You need anything just send me a PM and if I don't have an answer then someone else does.

Happy writing,
Lupe

(I've always wanted to say this.)

Hiya, Harry! =D

I promise not to tease you. ^_^

Welcome to YWS! I'm Jabber, and you may call me whatever you wish. I hope you're finding your way around here well enough. I remember getting lost countless times. xD

I hope you find the place to your liking. The Instructors (purple names) are well known for their amazing critiques, so go ahead and give one of them a shout in the Will Review For Food forum. The Junior Mods (light green) and Mods (dark green) are willing to give you any assistance if you need it. ^_^

I'm willing to read anything you have. Fiction is my strongest, though I can do nearly anything here. (Quality varies. xD) I love fantasy the most, and I'm working on a fantasy novel for the first time. (I never dared, haha.) What do you love to write? I want to be sure I see some of your work. ^^

I hope you have fun around here! And if you don't, give me a shout.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

I'll try not to be an old fuddy-duddy. But I really never grew up much after I turned 19 so I hope I'll fit in.

I like to read and write horror primarily. I read widely and have gotten out of horror for the most part but still appreciate the well written one every now and then.

I just finished Master of the Delta by Thomas H. Cook. Just started reading No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy and 1984 by George Orwell.

Jabber, I hope you're not serious about not teasing me! I love to joke around! I probably will try to get the hang of the place before I post any work here. Spend some time reviewing some pieces--I reviewed one so far. When it comes to reviews I feel giving is far more rewarding than receiving.

See ya around guys!

You might want to check out some usergroups then, found under Groups. There is one for horror writing called: Black Writing

Another 1984 fan? You will have much company.

You like joking around? Oh yes, you will fit riiight in.

You definitely will be welcome, if you appreciate crazy. ^_^

Black writing... how deliciously ominous that sounds! I'll check that out. I'm liking 1984 so far. Maybe after I finish it I can discuss with you fine folks.

I think I'm gonna like it here. You guys are nice and I like jokers!

Harry, i've been a member for less than 24 hours and so far i've had hounds and spirits chasing me for using chatspeak, I have also been threatened with the god of YWS, Nate.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Teehee my dad says that all the time and I've always wanted too XD

Welcome Harry! Don't forget to check out the chat if you ever notice that it's open! The lovely mods open it normally once a day and all of us nutcases congregate and converse. It's grand.

Well, I don't wish to step on any toes around here... but I prefer to hold the Resident Crackpot title.

Sorry about the newb question, but what is chatspeak? Using (LOL) and (LMAO) and such? Note that I put them in parentheses, so they don't count.

Okay, off to the chatroom.
