It's sort of awkward to start off and introduce myself on new forums, so here goes nothing.

Maybe if I was a different, more "special" person, I'd give you a detailed description of my dark, horrible past where my adopted parents abused me and sent me to an orphanage at the age of six, before coming back and pleading for forgiveness when I become a billionaire businesswoman.

But since I'm not old enough to be a businesswoman, my parents are my biological parents and I was never abused nor sent to any orphanage, that story is dumped away. It makes such a cliched tale.

Oh, and before I get too carried away, my name is Yinlin. Yes, it's a Chinese name, so I'm fine with Tetrys or YL.

I make horrible attempts at humour and sarcasm, Avatar and Harry Potter are loved dearly, and I fail at sarcasm. Wait, have I mentioned that already?

I'm not really that old, so normally I avoid overflowing on the romance and mushy, gooey stuff that you often see in novels. *coughTWLIGHTcough*

Of course I respect everyone's opinions, so let's not make this a critique thread.

I despise chatspeak and I abandon hope for the human race each time I view "My Immortal". Normally, I write Harry Potter fanfiction and sometimes oneshots. I'm on a hiatus from this piece I'm working on: a series of oneshots involving the last moments of the HP characters' deaths.

Yes, I'm evil and I enjoy torturing people before they die.

Mostly I lean towards fantasy and action/adventure, maybe a little romance and mystery. However, I wouldn't want my stories to be all vampire-esque or ghost-esque, since in my opinion the method is a little cliched.

I enjoy reading/watching Asian-influenced plots, since the Chinese language is my mother tongue (along with English) and I study it at school, that isn't really much of a problem for me. Still, I take pleasure in skimming over Medieval stuff. Oh, and boarding school stories.

I'm still young, and I hope to become an author one day. A scientist/researcher's my second choice. Ah, nanotechnology, you're mine once again.

Sometimes, stories about high school drama etc. are enjoyable, but I tend to avoid them.

And, why some of us have coloured names?

Light blue- greeter. Their home is here, in the welcome forum. Their job is to help out new members, so if you need help getting around, or just a friend to look out for you, contact them.
Purple- Instructor- like me! Our job is to help you improve your writing. So if you have any questions on writing, or need a review, ask one of us. We'll be glad to help.
Light green: Jr Mod. These are our babysitters...ooops, supervisers. They make sure we behave, and each patrol a certain forum. If you have any questions, ask them.
Dark green: Mod. The watchmen, keepers of peace, upholders of justice....and if you have any serious problems, talk to a Mod. They will help you out wherever possible. Collectively they are known as 'big brother'.
Red- Admin. The kings and queens of YWS, with Nate as god.

Also, you hate chat speak- great, I like you already. Another thing to be aware of is to make sure you keep to the 2:1 review/work posted ratio. This will mean more people will be willing to review your work and you will earn major brownie points.

Just a little introduction of my own: I run a small, hybrid community of smurfs and radioactive mice and one day we will rule the world!! Oh, and "My Immortal" was actually an infamous Harry Potter fanfiction where Voldemort was constantly spelt as Voldywart and has a Medieval accent. And also where practically all the males were perverts that filmed porn.

That was before some guy hacked into this "goth" girl's FF.net account and removed the story, including the LULZZ-factor.

Before it was removed, you'll get it as the top result when you Google "worst fanfic ever".

This is all in the name of truth and honesty. Honestly.

Be sure to read the rules. Rules are... rules. Every part of life has them. And YWS is just another part of life. However, you will have a great deal of fun living here.

One of the most important rules you shall pay attention to (since we know we won't hear of chatspeak from you! Which is amazing) is our 2:1 policy. It's simply a rule that when you post one piece of your work you should have completed two reviews prior to your post. Makes it fun and keeps the reviews circlin' around.
