Young Writers Society

Hi everyone!

I’m Lauren and you’ll have heard all this before, but I’m really glad to discover this site. It’s difficult to find people interested in critiquing your work and willing to be harsh if necessary!

I have a few unfinished novels, all of which were started a few years ago and would probably be aimed at the teen girl market if ever finished. I like writing poetry as well so have been working on this more than novels lately.

Hopefully I’ll get a chance to improve my writing here. I love writing but I don’t know why because it doesn’t come naturally at all! Kind of like Flaubert, minus his resulting literature.

Hey Lauren! Welcome to YWS!

For your unfinished novels, I would recommend posting some of the chapters on the site to see if teen girls are indeed your demographic. If you wish to post your entire all at once, post in the Advanced Critiques forum. It costs 500 points to post, but it's pretty much worth it seeing how people read the entire thing and edit it with track changes.

We're all eager to read what you've written, so get to posting! Let me just explain to you the point system before I go any further. You see, the highest amount of points you can get for a post is 50, and to post a poem, a chapter, anything, costs 100. Everybody will appreciate you if you critique their work as well. Remember, we're all here to help each other improve their writing!

Don't worry about it not coming naturally to you. Just because you don't have a natural ability doesn't limit you from becoming great!

Don't lose hope on finishing those novels. I'm sure you'll be able to finish those up, and improve them greatly here!

I would reccomend you go to the knowledge base under the resourses tab to get some tips on grammer, writing, and other stuff.
