In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.

  • Just a silly little book idea:

    Spoiler! :
There's this kingdom. The Kingdom is a very sparse land with no sparkle or shine, and people tend to describe it as 'a walk through death' because it's so desolate and depressing. Even the people there look bland. However, the trees that take up most of the land are secretly filled with magic. This kingdom is so bland and sad that no other land wanted to try and take it, but it was because of the magic of the trees that this happened. The trees provide immortality, and because of that immortality, the land can never die. Someone discovers this and starts taking care of the trees in hope to gain their blessing. This person (the future queen) is blessed by the trees and becomes immortal and beautiful. But immortality comes with a price (as shown by the ugliness of the land). The new queen brings the land to prosperity, letting everyone become beautiful with the touch of her hand or her pristine council, the Gardeners. As all of this comes, she starts to become greedy, aching for power. Aching for something more than beauty- even though ugliness is the only thing she fears. The trees begin to overtake her, her body becoming branches and roots and a monster of its own. Everyone is locked out of the castle except the Gardeners- until she finds the cure to her ugly misery.

Bethan is an ordinary girl- except for the fact that she's been locked up in a shed nearly all of her life. At the age of thirteen, her worst fear had emerged; she was not immortal. Instead, she was cursed by the Queen's trees, her hair turning grey and wrinkles slowly beginning to appear. She just wants to be free of the shed her father locked her in and experience the world- even if it means the Queen kills her.

Secretly, however, the Queen has a different plan for Bethan; to steal her mortality. And take back the mortal, beautiful body she was born to have.

So, this is my over-complicated WIP. It's a work in progress. Do you think it would be interesting to read?

OrabellaAvenue Oooh, yes this sounds so cool I'd love to read it if you wrote it.

  • Anyone know how to change my name on here? I'm not very... technological...

Ley You can contact anyone with a dark green username! They can change it for you, but be mindful of if you like it or not because you can only change it once every 6 months. :D

  • I love the YA fantasy genre. I love exploring worlds beyond our own and imagining defying the laws of our world we can't defy. I also love romance. But why does a lot of it end up not being PG-13? I'd just like some appropriate YA fantasy series someday (I'll probably attempt to write one, but who knows how that will go).

LadyMysterio Me too! I'm trying to really be careful that what I read is what I should be reading, as a Christian, and I'm struggling to find books. If I find any I will let you know!

  • Bible Verse of The Day to Help You on Your Way:

“And now your servant says, ‘May the word of my lord the king secure my inheritance, for my lord the king is like an angel of God in discerning good and evil. May the LORD your God be with you.’ ”

    2nd Samuel 14:17 :D

  • I don't know about you, but does America even have 'American' food? Hamburgers are German, french fries are French (or from Belgium) and even ice cream is *supposedly* Chinese. Even SODA came from England. I guess America will just have to be content copying other countries' foods.

alliyah A lot of traditional native american food comes from Mexico and the US originally, and then a lot of traditional "Southern food" is uniquely American in origin, as well as other miscellaneous treats ~

Indian Tacos, fried okra, macaroni & cheese, buffalo wings, barbeque ribs, corn bread, coke, dr pepper, pancakes (not crepes), maple syrup maybe? (though that is also Canadian), sweet potato casserole, chilli!

Quillfeather I think of American food as more Americanized food. Most the food we have is changed. Like if you go to a "Chinese" restaurant in America vrs authentic Chinese it's not the same at all.
And alliyah is definitely right there's a lot of foods and recipes that are from the south you have things like fried chicken, egg salad, potato salad, casserole of many kinds, (a lot of other horrible abominations we call food ) also soda is extremely different in different countries so again the soda you think of when you say American soda is different then other countries so it's Americanized

  • It's surprising to wake up and see so many notifications on here. I almost feel popular...

Anyways, here is the Bible Verse of The Day to Help You on Your Way:

'What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.'

    - Psalm 8: 4-5

  • Hello everyone! It seems I've been woken up from my grave. But I'm back! And I'm very glad to see everyone <33

  • You know what would be really weird? Making a cover BEFORE you write the book and using the cover solely as inspiration. So, what do you think this book would be about based on just the cover?
