About dianneece

My name is Dianne E.C.E.
When I was fifteen, I made a YWS account under my full name. Two years ago, I decided that the part of me that had to do with YWS was done and was no longer part of who I'd become. I've come to realize that that is not true. YWS helped me grow into the writer that I am today and the community that molded me is still a great big part of me. As a writer, I believed there came a time when you stopped depending on others to tell you what you did wrong and how to fix it, so as to develop in your skill and move on to bigger and better things. But that idea was wrong. Being a writer means you write. What kind of writer--good, bad, decent--has to do with who is there to help you mature and evolve. YoungWritersSociety is what brought me to where I am today. If I become a recognized author in the real world, my credit is thanks to YWS.

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
