So we all know about the Manchester incident that occurred recently, when twenty two people were killed in an explosion outside a concert hall. How could we not- there were journalists all over it, press conferences with government officials, graphic color photographs all over the internet, survivor testimonies shared- the whole world grieved for weeks. It was a horrible tragedy.

What you may not know- five days later, in Egypt, twenty nine men, women and children were murdered, either shot through the head or had their throats slit, one at a time, and forty two others survived serious gunshot wounds. Every one of them was Christian. In less than 48 hours, the story faded from the media. The assassins escaped and remain anonymous.

Perhaps it's only my biased viewpoint that makes me unable to help but wonder if their religion might have something to do with the world's silence on this tragedy. I heard someone claim recently that Christians only pretend to face persecution, because they want to look pitiful. Is that true? Is there another reason for this injustice? I don't know.

Regardless, would it be too presumptuous of me to ask my YWS friends for a moment of silence in honor of my brothers and sisters in Egypt who were murdered for their faith?

  • It's pretty sad how only the mutiple comments on your wall remind you of your YWS cake day....

  • Rather sad that chat and the chat room will be closing, but I'm sure we can all survive somehow. Somehow...

    ChieTheWriter I will not survive...

ThereseCricket Well there's always Skype and ummm other means of surviving, right...?

  • It was a pretty stressful day yesterday but I could not be happier with the results. Even though it seems like America is more divided than ever (especially since Clinton supporters are rioting), I do have confidence that Trump will be able to fix many of our economic problems and bring us together as a nation.

If we could get through eight years of Obama, I see no reason why we can't give Trump a fair shot, as well. Only time will tell.

ChieTheWriter Yeah ditto. He's not perfect, but give him a chance.

  • I have learned a valuable lesson.

    Spoiler! :
Never EVER take your current and favorite book with you when you go on a road trip with @TimmyJake. He will blow the tire on his truck and then use your book to place underneath the jack while jacking the vehicle up. Strangely enough, my Age of Napoleon survived it...
