About SpiraVita

Warning: May take up 3 min. of your precious time. Read at your own risk.
After I picked up my Junie B. Jones Book in first grade, I knew I would be a life long reader. And I did. But the interest in writing didn't blossom. till freshmen year of high school. After reading books such as Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr and Swoon by Nina Malkin, I suddenly had the urge to write a book. Up until then, I had been writing bits and pieces of poetry and short stories here and there as a hobby. Suddenly I actually considered writing as serious venture. So I spent about a year and a half writing the manuscript Once a Criminal, a realistic fiction about a Dread(some one from the ghettos/slums) in Dreadtown(like Chinatown in NY but think gangs, clubs, fighting clubs, etc). It was mystery and drama story about a juvenile murderer and starting over. Of course, that was difficult when your being framed for a new string of weird crimes and if your found guilty, it's the big house for a long time. Total Fail. Found out I couldn't write a mystery novel to save my life. So it's still shelved and someday will be fixed and published( I hope.) Now 4 years later with a few awards from entering some literary competitions. I'm hoping to make a little pocket $ from being an freelance writer and hoping to publish my first book during college. I hope the Young Writers Society will give me new skills and lessons to become a better writer and hopefully become a mild successful author. Regardless, I'm a writer for life!
Quotes I live by:
“We’re past the age of heroes and hero kings. … Most of our lives are basically mundane and dull, and it’s up to the writer to find ways to make them interesting.”
—John Updike, WD
“Write. Rewrite. When not writing or rewriting, read. I know of no shortcuts.”
—Larry L. King, WD
