Drache's Den

About Rach the Rache Drache Elg

Teacher by day, writer by night, paper-grader by weekend.

I've been writing for fun since the third grade, and have wanted to be a full-time published author since the fifth grade. I finished my first novel(s) at 13 and tried to publish them--and thank goodness I was rejected!

I studied German and Linguistics in college, and toward the end of my undergrad experience, I became involved at the local animal shelter. Little did I know, that was the first stepping stone to me becoming what I never thought I would be: a teacher. THE HORROR!

I just completed my second year of teaching (two years of 9th grade English) and am looking forward to my third at a new school, at a new grade level (6-8), in a new subject (reading!), in a new state.

If it's summer vacation, I'm probably available to review your work. I promise to keep the red pen and teacher-isms in check.

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats—the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill —The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it—and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another.
