Plume Haha thanks! And I've been pretty okay! A little bummed that I got so busy yesterday and now I'm out of the TT race, but that's life, I guess! How've you been?

Spearmint Aww, oh no! :/ I guess you can still aim for those other challenges though, like review a week!
I’m pretty good! School ends next week for me, and I’m a little :0 (but also really looking forward to no more studying for tests, for a few months, at least xD)

April 27th: Poetry Crew Pick
My #PCrewPick for the day is this poem by @EsmerayaRose! Her thread is full of lovely poems, many nature-focused, that seem right out of a storybook! I'm always a sucker for rhyming poems, and this one is no different. It presents the beauty and constancy of nature in such a gorgeous way.
My favorite couplets throughout would have to beThe colors change, the seasons pass,
But nature's pulse forever lasts.
andAmong the ferns and mountain peaks,
I find solace, and freedom I seek.
There's something so poetic about the passage of time, especially shown through the seasons and nature! And the comparison between elegant fern fronds and sturdy, gigantic mountain peaks is a delightful little bit of juxtaposition, which is made all the more satisfying by its iambic tetrameter and end rhyme with the next line.
You can read more of Esmeraya's poetry in her thread The butterfly's that keep me up at night.
EsmerayaRose OMG thank you!!

April 20th: Poetry Crew Pick
Today's #PCrewPick is this poem by @Ari11! When I first read it, I found myself enraptured by all the gorgeous imagery that describes the focal point of the poem, the ethereal she.
The use of nature imagery in this was absolutely stunning. Some of my favorite lines included:Her feet brush lightly over the grass, her head is wreathed in clouds.
Her arms span miles as she raises them, scraping glitter from the moon
It showers her in light, catching in the rivers of her hair
Waves of night tumbling past her shoulders.
"Glitter from the moon" and "wreathed in clouds" are just goddess-like images, and are just so beautiful in the context of the poem. They make the last stanza, a singular line, truly hit hard: "Does she know how beautiful she is?" It perfectly conveys the speaker's awestruck adoration of her, and it works so well.
You can read more of Ari's poetry in their thread Ari's Poetry Cove. I highly recommend it!

April 13: Poetry Crew Pick
My #PCrewPick for today is Pure by @winterwolf0100. I absolutely adored this poem and couldn't help but smile when I read it. It's a lovely free verse poem that perfectly conveys the simplicity of childhood joy through rainstorms and frogs (and who doesn't love frogs?)!
My favorite part would have to be this string of stanzas:and the
raindrops
don’t seem to mind.
and the
mud
doesn't seem to mind.
and
she
doesn’t seem to mind either.
I love the use of repetition throughout the stanzas. That, combined with the italics, creates this endearing and relatable air of playful childhood defiance.
I also love how the girl is described in all of her frog-themed attire. It's an image that you just have to grin at.
In all, it's an adorable poem about the love between a girl and her froggy friends. To read more of Winter's poetry, check out their thread Memories of Other.
As a reminder, to shout out any poems you think are spectacular, use #ThePeoplesPick !
winterwolf0100 0.0 thank you so much omg, was not expecting this today! <33

April 6: Poetry Crew Pick
My #PCrewPick for today is @starshipgirl's poem hot afternoons. I love all the poems in her thread, but this one stood out to me. She uses simple (yet very effective) imagery and gorgeous enjambment to create a short vignette of a lazy hot afternoon the speaker passes with her grandfather as they watch clouds disappear.
My favorite lines would have to be this section here:spring here is like an august day-
hot, so hot all the clouds go away by noon,
but it is not noon yet. my grandfather
sits in the shade in his chair staring up at the sky.
The enjambment between those two stanzas works so nicely to show the hot afternoon slowly passing by, peaceful and lazy. The way the poem ends is satisfying, too, but in an understated way—much like how the speaker feels.
You can read this poem and others by @starshipgirl in her thread my path to the moon and the stories i plan to take with me. To see our past PCrewPicks, check out the Hall of Fame.
If you have a poem you want to shout out, use #ThePeoplesPick !
starshipgirl AAAHHHH Plume thank you soooo much!!!!!

The long awaited National Poetry Writing Month has finally come back around! This year, your local Poetry Crew would like to introduce two new fresh and jammy hashtags: #PCrewPick and #ThePeoplesPick . (They come with their own limited edition badges, too.)
The poetry mods are going to use the PCrewPick hashtag to highlight a different YWSer's NaPo poem every single day of the month! Each poem that gets a shoutout will be put into The PCrewPick Hall of Fame. Then, at the end of the month, everyone whose poem has received a PCrewPick mention will be awarded an exclusive badge. Keep a lookout later today for the first official PCrew Pick!
If you've ever used #PoetryShoutout or #FiresideFridays , ThePeoplesPick isn't much different! Everyone is invited to use this hashtag. Give a shoutout to your favourite NaPo poems - written by YWSers other than yourself - that you read over the course of the month! We encourage you to use this hashtag multiple times throughout the month (daily, even, if you feel like it). You'll be sure to brighten someone's day! ThePeoplesPick also comes along with a snazzy badge of its very own.
For more information on badges you can earn this month, hop over to the Badge Info Thread. If you want to check out other poetry-related hashtags, you can give the Index of Poetry Hashtags a read, as well!
