Random shower thought:
The word “absentee” implies the existence of “absentor”. Just like an interviewee is one who is being interviewed, an absentee is one who is absent. In other words, the absentee is having the action of absence “inflicted” on him. That would mean that the “absentor” is the one “inflicting” the absence onto an absentee. So in the case of someone who is sick, the “absentor” would be…the illness. Strange that it isn’t a person. But HOWEVER, if the absentee is absent because of bereavement, then their “absentor” would be…oh gosh…their deceased family member.
(Can I just say that “Absentor” sounds really ominous and threatening and someone should use it as the name of a supervillain or something)

Oh me
Oh my
I have regressed to my
lurking tendencies again
Whatever shall I do
(I have decided to do at least one review for any work on YWS today. If I end up not doing it, you have my express permission to come here and (metaphorically) beat me up for not doing it)
NoOneInParticular Edit: I have successfully completed said review! Hooray!

How does one review novel chapters? I genuinely need to know.
I’m looking in the green room seeing all these (probably really awesome) novels which are, like, on part 5, part 126 even. And I want to review them(!), but my brain just goes “nope we are not reading all that” and ignores it entirely. T-T
(other tips on reviewing novels are welcome too)
(thanks!)
ToastK For me personally, I try to review from part 1, but that???s obviously impossible if the book is like ???part 27 chapter 29572??? so, I feel that reviewing the chapter as just its own stand alone work can also work (ppl have done that with my work as well and I am personally totally cool with it). If not, just spend this entire summer reading ig lmao.

EllieMae Even if I am not familiar with all of the previous chapters, I try to give critique on the writers writing style, how the dialogue flows, internal/external details they describe, and things in the plot that stand out to me or feel poetic.

Yippee! I have returned after 4 days of not existing! And double yippee because school starts in two days! Don’t you love it when you have no time to write reviews?
Sarcasm aside, I am back and writing reviews again! Rejoice! (Let’s hope I do not procrastinate them to oblivion)

Just realised I’ll be busy next week and won’t be able to take part in Team Tortoise. Oh well, I’ll still do my one review a day whenever I can. Good luck to all other participants, and keep going!
OrabellaAvenue Aww, that's too bad, but still glad you could review and join us!!

That feeling when you’re looking through your reviews for…whatever reason and realise that your first review was on a work rated 18+ even though you’re 14, so now you’re just left with that vague feeling of “whoops??”
goodolnoah Lol, I rate most of my stuff 18+ because of the chance that I threw a swear in there somewhere, never-mind blood and all the fun stuff.
Ah well, age ratings are all scams anywho.,.

NoOneInParticular Now I’m considering ignoring the ratings and reviewing whatever the heck I want…does anyone even check them?

You ever look at other people’s profiles and feel like “dang, I should probably be more active/respond to people’s comments more” but you’re too used to lurking on social media and, before joining have never really touched the comment button, then you start to wonder, what am I doing on a site like this? Where engagement is key but you’re not really used to being social on social media? When you’re chronically online yet unused to presenting yourself to the world? And now you want to respond to all the commenters that you ghosted but now it’s too late, too awkward to reply?
No? Just me?
(I should probably be asleep what am I even doing.)
P.S. does anyone know how social norms on platforms like this works? is mild online social anxiety even a thing? should i stop writing and properly organise my thoughts before this comment gets too long? questions, questions.
WELL THEN have a nice day/night/somehow it’s sunset or sunrise and you’re not sure?
goodolnoah I totally understand online social anxiety. I have spells where I get gassed out of social interaction, be it in real life or online. Luckily, everyone’s really nice here, and we wouldn’t fault ya if you didn’t respond to comments! As long as you read and understand, that’s all that matters
I think the only “social norm” here is just try and be a nice person. Which I think you already are! I am probably the first one to not respond due to lacking energy/not finding a purpose, so it’s totally okay to simply read this and move on!

NoOneInParticular Ironically, that last sentence made me more willing to respond. But uh…I’m not sure what to say. Thanks for the support, though! (I should really go to sleep…)
