About Me

I remember when I was younger: never seeing my father cry, never experiencing a night without sirens, never knowing if I would survive till morning, and always running at the sound of sirens. When I think about it: I never saw my father sober, I never spent a night in the rich side of town, I never took a moment to relax, I never had a chance to stop and look around when those sirens were approaching. Were they ever really coming for me?

Those who think they know me are completely clueless. They only know what I want them to assume. Those who think they know you will never truly understand you, but those who strive to learn more about you; are often the ones who know all that is worth knowing about you.

Growing up has never been easy for anyone, but you may have never considered that there are those in the world who never had a chance to grow up. Those who had to make adult choices as soon as they learned to talk; children who learned to survive on their own because it was the only choice they ever had. There are those who died before they could even talk because they had no choice in where they grew up.

People often post pictures online that state if someone doesn’t understand the contents of the picture then they aren’t from the same generation as the poster. However, have you ever considered that some people had no childhood? You may have been able to play games outside and watch cartoons in the comfort of your home, but there are those who lived in constant fear. Those plagued by never ending danger. Those who only turned on their television to show respect to the friends and family that lost their lives far too soon. Those who only knew games like ding dong ditch, spin the bottle, and various street gambles.
