About Lauren

Hello! I'm Lauren, and I've been around YWS for (so very nearly) seven years. I've formally studied creative writing in university for almost as long, and am almost finished with my Masters of Fine Arts in fiction writing so you might say I know my stuff (or, at least, I know how to act like I know my stuff).

Someday I hope to teach creative writing at the college level, but until then I'm happy to read and critique the work of my peers and young writers at places like YWS. I love to talk writing and will blabber on about anything remotely related until someone makes me stop.

My pronouns are she/her but I will happily respond to they/their.

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats—the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill —The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it—and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another.
