About Falunel

(I'm just dropping my intro post here until I'm unlazy enough to write something new here.)

Hi there! Found this forum a while ago after a wiki walk. Thought I might join, and hopefully spur myself into writing again.

Stuff about me. I've been talking with hardly any filters as of late elsewhere, so heck, I guess why not here too. Incomplete list of facts about me, from most socially acceptable to least: I'm 21 years old and a rising senior in university, I major in math and minor in computer science and writing, I write and draw, I'm non-binary transgender, I'm part of a multiple system.

The long version of all that stuff:

- 21 years old and a rising senior. Self-explanatory.

- Major in Applied Math, minor in CompSci and Writing. Started as pre-med, flaked out second year. Oh well, didn't want to be a doctor anyway. Possibly have a job lined up in cryptography after I graduate, courtesy of a very awesome person I know at a place that's diverse and welcoming of LGBT+ people and neurodivergent people alike. Fingers crossed!

- I write and draw. Mostly flash fiction and technical writing on the writing front. Have too awful of an attention span for a novel, and a novel doesn't let me play with words and ambiguity/incoherence to the same extent. I'm also trying to get better at critiquing and have written two reviews here so far. Drawing, painting, I do a little of everything, though I'm still very much learning. I want to do realistic portraits and develop a distinct stylized style like in Dresden Codak. My favorite art style is Art Nouveau.

- I'm non-binary transgender, which means my gender identity is somewhere between male and female. In case this is confusing, bit of a basic rundown on the difference between sex and gender here. There's also historical precedents of third genders (individuals who identified as neither male or female) in traditional Indian, Native American, African, and some other cultures. Translates to body dysphoria, anxiety, a sense of stuff not being right that's been around since childhood, though thankfully it's at a manageable level. (I don't care what pronouns you use for me. Female is usually what I roll with out of habit.) Majority of my friends are LGBT+, including a good number of trans women, and I worry for their safety every day.

- I'm part of a multiple system, a type of plurality. Read more about it here. Partly traumagenic, though thankfully not disordered. In any case, we're all here now, myself (Falah, sometimes called N) and six others (Lark, Steven, Rain, Marcus, Santria, and Alyenor) who have been muses/story subjects, confidantes, and teammates especially this last year when I finally figured out what the heck they were. I split physical-life time with Lark, Steven, and Rain. They might drop in to say hello from time to time. We do a lot of stuff related to plurality online, info and advocacy, and hope it makes a difference somehow and somewhere.

So yeah. More than you ever wanted to know. More stuff:

I'm interested in lucid dreaming and have had lucid dreams before. I think anthropology is an important subject and one of the more open-minded fields of science along with physics. I am a strong believer in social justice but disapprove of the way certain segments of tumblr go about it. I chatter a lot online but am very quiet in person. I like my eggs over easy and on toast. I enjoy large slices of cake since they're delicious, each slice is big enough that I can eat half and save the other half for the next day, and they're still delicious the next day.

Also, because why not: among the sites I help run is a relatively new forum, url=http://www.soulbonding.org/app.php/page/about]The Living Library[/url], which is devoted to people who have had characters "come alive", and to these living characters of theirs. If you've ever had characters just up and start chatting with you, or even are just interested in the subject, feel free to poke around.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone who I hopefully haven't scared away. :P

PS: Also, Pokemon is love.
