Hello hello, reappearing briefly once more.
Had my last class of my undergraduate degree this week which is both exciting and somewhat existentially overwhelming. I still have some assignments and exams before I graduate, but basically this big chapter of my life is coming to an end. I know I'm barely around these days, but the end of my degree has me feeling sentimental, and the moral support I've received from YWS and this little home on the internet has always been something I've treasured.
Rook Congrats Sarah!!

is it heartbreak or just napo material?
I'm well aware napo is still over a month away but it's looking to be an angsty one (like that's any different to all my previous napos)
Holysocks <3 I hope you're doing okay.

I just finished rereading the Leviathan trilogy by Scott Westerfeld, and partly, I'm feeling very old indeed because I first read Leviathan over a decade ago(!!!). I'm also feeling a little nostalgic, because I've read these books so, so many times over the years and revisiting them makes me feel like I'm 13 again, and dreaming of being Deryn Sharp when I grow up (I'm 23 now and still want to be Deryn Sharp when I grow up). But mostly, I feel the same bittersweet mix of emotions I always feel when I finish this trilogy: love for the story, the characters and the world they live in, and heartache because the story is over and I have to say goodbye.
It's difficult for me to completely articulate my love for these books, even though they've been such an integral, formative part of my life for a decade (!!!!!!!). I've really neglected my writing for a couple of years now (read: I have not written, like, at all), but something about finishing these books makes me want to create a story that captures the way this story makes me feel.
I'm not sure what the point of this post is, except to say that I love these books now just as much as I did when I was younger. And I am now itching to write a story about a deposed prince and a girl disguised as a boy which will no doubt be a total ripoff of these books but I don't care because it would bring me joy and I would be writing it for my own entertainment.
Also, a decade

It's been ages and I hope you're well!

Mea SARAH! It's so good to see you! And oh man, I love the Leviathan trilogy, you're making me want to go back and read it. You should totally start writing that story!
