  • Hi there, welcome to YWS!

I'm whatchamacallit, but you can also call me whatcha! I'd be glad to answer any questions you have about the site. Any other global moderators, as well as junior moderators and admin are here to help and answer questions, too!

These are some handy links you might find helpful with getting started on the site:
    - The Welcome Mat is a great place to get information about the website. You can check out the FAQ thread, or create a post in the Questions and answers forum.
    - The rules thread is good to check out, so you know what's allowed on the site!
    - The Big Book of YWS Codes has everything you need to know about formatting.

Also, if you're unsure where to start when it comes to reviewing, the Critique Sandwich and Review templates are really useful resources!

Since this is a writer's site, what are your favourite genres to read/write? I personally stick to poetry most of the time.

Hope to see you around <3

    BetsyJ Hi,
Nice to meet you. I'm Betsy.
Thank you for the welcome. I find the links very useful for navigating the site, and to learn more about this space.

English is not my mother tongue/ native language but I am fluent, and more comfortable with it. I like reading everything regardless of genre. But, I like exploring dark, psychological themes and stories. For example, Joyce Carol Oates, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,
I love reading science fiction and classics, in general.

I am currently exploring with various kinds of writing. I have written more creative nonfiction than fiction in my life. I try to include my cultural and personal experiences in everything I write now as I have found (after a long time) that they can add so much more than what I thought.

Would love to hear back from you.

Hijinks Hi Betsy! I'm glad the links are helpful :)

Oh cool! What's your native language?

I definitely agree it's fun to read all genres - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a great author. And including personal and cultural experiences in your writing is so wonderful; I can't wait to read some of your own writing!
