I don't have a picture of my cats Isis and Theodosia but this is sort of what they look like-(yes they are both Turkish Angoras-I wanted to adopt a cat native to the Egyptian area and the Turkish Angora were a purr-fect match.)

AmoonAbrax Thank you. My cats are the sweetest things on earth...and the most difficult to photograph. I've been trying to get a picture of them but...apparently they are camera shy.

Lib Ahh, you're like me, lol. I asked that question a while ago. The moderators and administrators usually have a meeting or something like that, and then they decide. Something of that sort, if I'm not mistaken.
I don't think you really do anything, but a better person to ask would be a moderator, lol.

AmoonAbrax Thank you. I happen to be a large fan of Egypt. I have even traveled there once...though it wasn't much of an experience so there isn't a lot to tell. Much of my writing however does have something to do with Egypt.

Can someone explain why my I appear to have the IP address of some other user?
Mea There's a few reasons - you might be logging onto YWS in the same physical location as some other YWSer some of the time, such as at school or at a public library. If you're using a proxy (which changes your IP address), I think those IP addresses are sometimes reused for other people who are using the proxy. Finally, IP addresses occasionally change over time, and it may be that the IP address you used to make a post on here several weeks ago now happens to be being used by a different user. It's generally nothing to worry about.
What prompted this question? Also, welcome to the site!

AmoonAbrax What prompted the question? Well, I have a confession-I'm not actually sure if this is a users IP adress or not. I simply noticed my IP address wasn't the one I normally use, and I wondered if it might have been some other users. Then I wondered if someone was trying to hack me. Does that make any sense?

Before you get settled in, you might want to swing by the rules thread to see what's allowed on the site, and the FAQ thread to figure out how the site works. It explains a lot about the basics of the site, like how to post your works and how to get points. It was really useful to me back when I first joined the site, so hopefully it'll be just as useful for you.
There's also a really cool part of the site that I suggest checking out! It's called the Storybook section of the site, and it's a place where you can collaborate with other writers in roleplays or even full-blown stories. I've been in a lot of them before, so please don't be afraid to ask me more about them if that seems like something you'd be into.
