    Are you a morning or night person? both!
    Biggest Pet Peeve: people getting upset about little things that don't matter and not having enough empathy to realize that when someone small like a waiter getting your order wrong might just show that they are having a bad day and how you would feel in that situation and the best thing for the entire situation is just to give them grace. Are you a morning or night person? Sorry darling, but I swing towards the crepuscular end of the spectrum :)
    Biggest Pet Peeve: Don't have one lol. It's more fruitful to accept each person as they are, and if something about someone annoys you, discern why, and what lesson you can gleam from the experience.
    Collections?: I have multiple plastic or ceramic cat collections, and I once had a jar full of dried flowers and no, I'm no witch, wdym?
    Dream job: This is as 'dream' as a dream job gets, but I've always wanted to be a guardian or mystican librarian who protects the secrets of the universe, or an attendant who plans trips to different planets.
    Having a space themed night club also sounds satisfying.

    Favorite YWS Work: Don't have one atm
    Greatest achievement: Being alive for this long lollll
    Hardest part of the writing process: Getting past the first two chapters

    Are you a morning or night person? Definetely night person. During break, I always sleep late and wake up late.
    Biggest Pet Peeve: People burping, especially when they don't say excuse me afterwards. And also people farting in public. And also places that don't have public toilets, or don't have toilet paper.
    Collections? Hmm, I used to collect Mini Brands, and I do have a collection, but they have now been scattered around the house and destroyed by my baby brother.
    Dream job: Candy tester or video-game tester. Basically anything fun tester.
    (your go-to) Emoji: I guess this: :wink:
    Favorite YWS Work: Ooh, that's a hard one. Probably Arthura Pendragon by @Rinisha. Either that, or Gifted by @alpacaboss
    Greatest achievement: i got every question right on a Marvel Kahoot. And all the boys in my class who thought they knew Marvel were playing it.
    Hardest part of the writing process: Finding motivation, definetely. In fact, YWS gave me motivation to write, because I knew there were people waiting for me to release a new chapter, but before, I had no deadlines or anything.
    If you won the lottery, what would you do? I would probably give my parents money and donate to charity. And if I had any leftover, I would buy a ton of sushi and salmon and macaroons.
    Joke: What did Sushi A say to Sushi B? Wasa, B.
    Know a fun fact? St. Lucia is the only country named after a woman.
    Last read: Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman
    Main writing project: Purple Stones
    Note to your past self: Tell Mom to bring the adapter thing. Trust me.
    One non-necessity you couldn't live without: This probably counts as a neccesity, but a digital watch.
    Person you admire: My grand-aunt I guess. And her daughters and granddaughters.
    Question you'd like people to answer below: How old do you think I am?
    Reason to write: Uhh because it's fun I guess!
    Sports: I play soccer in the fall, but I am not very good at it.
    Tag a YWSer that's a good writer: @Rinisha!
    Ultimate color: Red, obviously.
    Volunteer? Sure! Wish I could.
    What are you working on? Side novel and Purple Stones.
    EXciting news: I went on vacation to an island and the roof leaked water and we had to move to different room.
    Your favorite unlikely combination: Nutella and banana toast.
    Zombies? Zombie shows are good material for existential questions like, how to build a society, and, how do bad guys form. But I don't really like zombie shows otherwise.

    Rinisha Hey there,

    I am so grateful for all the kind words, I am happy you loved Arthura pendragon.

    ~~~
    About your question, I think your either 15 or 17 years old. Tell me if im right.
    Aug 7, 2023
    KaiaJersaga I gotta agree with that about the watch. My watch band broke and now I'm struggling without it. XD
    Hm...I'd guess somewhere between 13-15.
  • #alphabetAnswers here we go again
    Are you a morning or night person? Ok here's the thing. I like being up in the morning, but I don't like getting up in the morning. And at night I can be super productive, but I also keep a fairly consistent routine for my bedtime, so I usually just end up bypassing my nighttime ultra productivity in an effort to maintain a healthy sleep schedule by the working world's standards
    Biggest Pet Peeve: uhhh I know I have some, I just can't ever at the moment. I'll update this if I remember
    Collections? Humm a collect a lot for things in small quantities so I don't really consider any of them "collections"However, as a fashionista since birth, I have a fair amount of makeup, clothes and some shoes(I love shoes and try very hard to limit myself) so I suppose those would count as collections?
    Dream job: ACTOR, ACTRESS, PLAYING PRETEND, PUTTING MYSELF IN SOMEONE ELSES SHOES AS EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY AS I CAN. (I bloody love acting, I could go on all day about characters. A lot of what we use to write characters is very similar as to how I approach analysing my character in the script/the scenes. Which is cool.)
    (your go-to) Emoji: probably the crying/cry laughing emoji
    Favorite YWS Work: I honestly haven't(sadly) read a yws work in far too long, so I really can't say.
    Greatest achievement: i think I'd have to say that (so far) my greatest achievement has been pushing myself so out of my comfort zone and moving away from home for five months to go learn about my dream job in a semi unfamiliar city. I'm so very proud of myself for that and so so solo happy I did. Those months have become life time memories
    Hardest part of the writing process: starting/making magic systems
    If you won the lottery, what would you do? Uhhh depends on the timing, but if I did right now, I'd aplit it into three sections, one in savings, one to my parents, and one to just go on a shopping spree because I'd think it'd be a fun thing to do once in my life.
    Joke: bob the builder and jack the ripper have the same middle name
    Know a fun fact? My family(way back when) was in the War of Roses, however we don't know what side.
    Last read: Spy X Family book one, and Carnaval by Stephanie Garber
    Main writing project: something new I'm playing around with involving a serious assassin and her coffee hyped up getaway driver.
    Note to your past self: dont be scared to wear that thing, and you don't have to prove your as good as your brother's/male cousins, to get attention from your grandparents, their not worth it. Your awesome as you are, and we totally embraced our five year old self and it's the best. Also theirs a movie about barbie.
    One non-necessity you couldn't live without: probably fashion/makeup/physical ways to be creative
    Person you admire: in order: I have many, but if it has to be one probably my mom
    Question you'd like people to answer below: tell me three good things about today, even if it was a bad day, find three things that gave you enjoyment, or was something you liked, though was cool, an interesting though. Anything. No matter how small or silly it may seem.
    Reason to write: to create and explore characters I come up with in my head
    Sports: use to do ballet, still do in my room
    Tag a YWSer that's a good writer: @TheMythMaster
    Ultimate color: oh dear, I'm an avid lover of colour and colour theory, so this is always a hard question. but I really like to wear dark forest green, so let's go with that
    Volunteer? It'd be cool to volunteer on film sets or as a film set makeup artist
    What are you working on? Adjusting being back at home. I've also been sick for about four months(it's like. A general unwell feeling that will developed into more of a cold every couple of weeks.) So I'm also dealing with that.
    EXciting news: i recently found a old house that had a piece of cement that said it was built in 1901!! Which I think is really cool to find.
    Your favorite unlikely combination: purple and green are my favorite colour combination to paint with. I don't know why, I just always seem to pick those colours.
    Zombies? A mob I find very annoying in Minecraft.
    KaiaJersaga Okay, wow did I just learn a lot more about this LadyMysterio. ;)
    Green and purple make an interesting combination. I don't think I've ever met someone who liked that combination before. You're quite unique and creative!! I'm sorry to hear that you've been sick though. :( And I love your exciting news. Sounds like something I'd go crazy about, too!!
    Hm...good things that have happened today...
    1. My hamster is looking quite happy today which eases my concern for him.
    2. Today has been stress-free!
    3. The best part of today-God is a part of it!!
  • Here we go! #AlphabetAnswers
    Are you a morning or night person? After I graduated from college, it's kind of neither at the moment? But more on the night owl side.
    Biggest Pet Peeve: Probably 1) people chewing noisily and with their mouths open and 2) people not doing things "right" (I can admit that sometimes it's just my opinion).
    Collections? I don't actively collect anything, but I have a stamp collection, some Kpop albums and photocards that my friends have given me as gifts, and way too many journals, lol. My mom used to collect delicate cat figurines/cat-themed decorations (as well as Hello Kitty) for me when I was little because I really liked cats back then. If it counts, I'm slowly collecting instruments as I learn them. I would like to collect my favorite books one day.
    Dream job: Is this even a question? :P Writer, of course, but I also like to entertain other careers that are a little more unconventional.
    (your go-to) Emoji: Joy emoji, or as I like to say, the "laughing crying" emoji. 😂
    Favorite YWS Work: That's a hard one, I've liked different things I've read on here. @alliyah has some great poems, and recently, I enjoyed reading @Spearmint's Chosen Sidekick.
    Greatest achievement: I don't feel like I've accomplished a lot in my life so far, but graduating from university? I also earned the right to be inducted into a very prestigious honor society.
    Hardest part of the writing process: Starting.
    If you won the lottery, what would you do? First off, in reality, I wouldn't enter the lottery. But in this scenario, I would like to give a lot of it back to God as an offering, and then I would like to give some of it to my parents to pay for their/our needs. I would probably save the rest, maybe use some of it to start a business.
    Joke: What did one pickle say to another that had fallen on the floor? -- Dill with it!
    Know a fun fact? If you hear a pet bird talking, it's most likely a male bird. They have better vocalization skills.
    Last read: If you're talking finished read, then it would be The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu. In progress, Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis and (somewhat) The Dark Forest by Liu Cixin.
    Main writing project: The Main Character Syndrome of Aynnhailleah Angel Astrid
    Note to your past self: Pray and read the Bible more and work on being willing to say "yes" to God in everything. Lay down your pride and be kinder and more patient to others. Don't be afraid to talk to others and definitely try new things in college.
    One non-necessity you couldn't live without: Could you call a phone a non-necessity in this day and age? (I know I am claiming something big here, lol.) Otherwise, I'm not sure. Maybe a purse/bag or my ukulele?
    Person you admire: My sister
    Question you'd like people to answer below: If you could suddenly become fluent in any language right now, what would it be?
    Reason to write: For enjoyment and to share the stories and thoughts that come to mind.
    Sports: None at the moment.
    Tag a YWSer that's a good writer: See the ones I tagged above under Favorite YWS work!
    Ultimate color: Pastel blue
    Volunteer? Currently no, but I might eventually.
    What are you working on? Getting my life together.
    EXciting news: I posted the first parts of Angel Astrid. I'm also waiting to see if I will be accepted into the nursing program I applied to (it's going to be a while till I know, though).
    Your favorite unlikely combination: I haven't really thought about anything like this. Really tall guys and short girls? (Is that even unexpected?)
    Zombies? They're not real. :) But they're pretty gross and creepy, so I try to avoid content that has them in it.
    KaiaJersaga Me: further convinced that this person is super cool. :)
    I'm also gonna be a nursing student, and I totally agree with your opinions on the lottery question. Nicely answered!!
    My language would be Spanish. It's seems like a useful language to know. :)
    Aug 6, 2023
    Lael @KaiaJersaga thanks for saying that. :’) I still have a lot to learn and grow, though.
    Very exciting! It’s cool to see someone else who’s going down the path of nursing. And I absolutely agree, Spanish is quite useful. I recommend that you take a medical Spanish class in college if you can :)
    Aug 6, 2023
    KaiaJersaga *sigh* Okay, look. Humans have this thing called the imagination. It's something that helps them form ideas. But not all those ideas are realistic. One such example is the case with zombies.
    Are you a morning or night person? Probably night. I used to be both, but that was years ago. Nowadays I stay up 'till midnight either writing, drawing, or thinking about random things.
    Biggest Pet Peeve: Uhhm... I don't know? I guess a lot of things... Well, I don't know if this is considered a pet peeve, but when people don't believe you're telling the truth, especially when you actually are. I know it's not their fault because they don't know, but it really makes me frustrated, even when it's in a book and not happening to me.
    Collections? A beautiful gem collection! I have eighteen in total, 6 of which are fairly big compared to the rest. And here's a list of all the kinds I have:
    Spoiler! :
    Most of them are one of a kind, but I have 3 red jaspers and 1 dalmatian jasper. Also, 2 rose quartzs and 2 amethysts. I've got one each of the following:
    Amazonite
    Tiger's eye
    Crystal quartz
    Turquoise
    Snowflake obsidian
    Howlite
    Lapis lazuli
    Sodalite
    Aventurine
    Citrine (aka lemon quartz)
    Dream job: Like a ton of people on this site, author. However, I also want to be a scientist (probably astronomer or something of the sort)
    (your go-to) Emoji: I use :) a lot. Um, yeah, that's it.
    Favorite YWS Work: Noooo, you want me to choose?! How can I do that! I love them all too much! :smt089 How about I do more than one? Yes, I'll do that.
    Favorite poem: variations on a theme of sadness by @yosh.
    Favorite short story: My Name is Oliver by @AuthenticallyAngie.
    Favorite Novel: King of the Court also by @yosh.
    But I love a lot more than that. Almost everything I read on here makes me sing, cry, or smile. So, thank you to anyone who posts amazing things!
    Greatest achievement: I don't know? I've never really done anything... achievement like... so...
    Hardest part of the writing process: Trying not to get sucked into the My writing isn't good. This has been done before. Everything I write is cliche, mindset. Once I go there, it's hard to get back out and write.
    If you won the lottery, what would you do? Donate to charity! Actually, how much money would you get from the lottery? Um... *shrugs* I'd probably give most of it to a bunch of charities. Then to my parents to help me know what to do with that much, 'cuz, uh, I don't really know.
    Joke: I don't know any.
    Know a fun fact? A group of bunnies is called a fluffle.
    Last read: I've been reading Little Women, though I haven't finished it yet.
    Main writing project: Kinda nothing? I'm trying to write a longer version of my short story Shadow of the Orange Tree, but I'm not sure what to do.
    Note to your past self: Don't be lazy; keep working, even when it's hard.
    One non-necessity you couldn't live without: The show Steven Universe.
    Person you admire: My dad. He's always kind and he cares deeply about me. He's also smart and can tell me things that go way over my head.
    My mom. She's an angel and she loves me unconditionally.
    My sister. She understands me and I her. We share interests and love to just chat when we've got nothing else to do.
    Question you'd like people to answer below: Do you have a pet bunny? If so, please send me a million pictures by the end of the day. Thanks! (Jk unless you want to)
    Reason to write: So I can share stories with others, and hopefully drag their feelings out and smash them into tiny little bits before handing them back.
    Sports: I used to like basketball, and badminton was fun... but not really interested in any sports.
    Tag a YWSer that's a good writer: @alpacaboss :)
    Ultimate color: Of the colors here: lavender. My all time favorite: periwinkle (which looks a lot like lavender, but a little more blue)
    Volunteer? Unfortunately, no
    What are you working on? A bunch of things but also nothing at all. :)
    EXciting news: I got Alice in an Alice in Wonderland Play. We're performing in less than two weeks. I don't even have all my lines memorized. I'm not prepared. PLEASE HELP!
    Your favorite unlikely combination: Bunny Bears. They are adorable.
    Zombies? Ghosts.
    alliyah ohh periwinkle is a good choice!
    Are you a morning or night person? Can I be both and neither at the same time? I have to wake up early during the week, so once I take a shower I'm pretty awake! But I also like staying up late -- which turns into me being tired! xD
    Biggest Pet Peeve: When someone chews with their mouth open ... the sounds. Or, when someone tells me that we'll hang out and I've texted them and they don't reply ...
    Collections? I have very small collections of books and albums, and a slightly larger collection of stuffed animals.
    Dream job: Being a writer, of course. But, actually, being a teacher has slowly turned into a truly realistic goal!
  • And here we go with this - speed round of #AlphabetAnswers since I need to go make lunch.
    Are you a morning or night person? NIGHT. I hate mornings and feel like I'm one of those people that don't need very much sleep. I get hardly any work done before noon, and am most productive at exactly 4 pm.
    Biggest Pet Peeve: Sending an email with 3 questions and only getting a response to 2 of them. People clicking "reply-all" when they should have clicked "reply". Avoidable food waste. Commercials that are 10 times as loud as the show you're watching. People who leave a message saying "call me back" without information as to what they are calling you about. Morning meetings. People talking loudly during church or movies or performances. Whoops, that's more than one!
    Collections? I have many and various collections. Some random ones - G2 pens (need to have every color on hand), ancestry photos, vintage Easter and Christmas cards, Christmas Cards in general, bottle caps, Lutheran hymnals...
    Dream job: I've got it!
    (your go-to) Emoji: currently :smt117:
    Favorite YWS Work: how to begin to weave a basket
    Greatest achievement: Not sure this is "greatest" but one of my proudest achievements in the last year was organizing a community event that 150 people attended with music, food, entertainment, presentations, charitable giving, and local press coverage. I also made a 30 page booklet for the event that we sold about 50 of. It took 6 months to plan and I don't think I've ever been responsible for something of that large of scale before.
    Hardest part of the writing process: Following through with the editing process
    If you won the lottery, what would you do? I think I'd try to give 50% to my church, and pay off my vehicle, and then maybe invest the rest?
    Joke: this interaction with Gengar on my wall made me laugh
    Know a fun fact? No one knows between SD and ND which state became the 39th or 40th state first because Pres. Benjamin Harrison shuffled the papers so no one would know which became a state first.
    Last read: "Cloud Cuckoo Land" - by Anthony Doerr, no joke, the best book I've read yet.
    Main writing project: right now - a collection of about 50 monthly musing poems.
    Note to your past self: always make time to eat lunch
    One non-necessity you couldn't live without: my paper calendar that I carry everywhere
    Person you admire: Corrie Ten Boom
    Question you'd like people to answer below: What's your favorite poem?
    Reason to write: It's fun!
    Sports: Nope!
    Tag a YWSer that's a good writer: @Hijinks
    Ultimate color: Clearly dark cyan
    Volunteer? right now the main volunteer thing I do is at a nursing home - twice a month. :3 one of the hardest volunteer things I've ever done was tutoring algebra to high schoolers who had gotten really behind in their math studies and didn't know basic addition / subtraction - I was certainly not qualified to be teaching them math! But tried my very best to help.
    What are you working on? this right now.
    EXciting news: I think there are two super moons this month?
    Your favorite unlikely combination: not really that unlikely but putting m&ms in popcorn!
    Zombies? scared of them
    Spoiler! :
    I can't answer the question about poems. I don't read poetry much, but I really love the poetry I've seen by @LuminescentAnt and @alpacaboss.
    I also really admire Corrie Ten Boom, and I'm in the process of trying to become a nursing home volunteer, too! But the way things are going, I may sooner be working there, than be a volunteer. (I'm gonna be a nurse. ;))
    Anyway, so nice to hear we have some more similarities! Thanks for sharing!
    Thanks for the response - very neat! I lead a prayer group at one of our local nursing home, and it makes me super happy. :] One of the residents is also a poet and he shared with me a folder of his poetry and writing recently, really sweet stuff and very rewarding!   • Just remembered that last year @Liminality made a #NaPo themed #AlphabetAnswers ~ so just decided to try that out real quick. Feel free to also participate if you'd like. :) (code is under the spoiler at the bottom)
    Alliteration or no? Yes, yep, you bet!
    Blackout poetry? Maybe!
    Commenting on other users' threads? Absolutely plan to!
    Dark or happy themes? I want happy themes but we shall see where the poetry goes.
    Enjambment? Maybe some fun paragraph poetry?
    Fun in poetry jams? (WFPs poetry parties) Can't wait!
    Goals you'd like to share? 30 poems and 50 comments?
    How many poems? 30!
    Including chickens or potatoes? chickens.
    Jam flavour? Lemon Curd is pretty delicious.
    Keen on concrete imagery? yes.
    Lowercase or uppercase?? lowercase aesthetic for life
    Music playlist for poetry writing? ohh I don't have the brain-focus-capacity to listen to music while writing, because I will 100% get very distracted.
    New or an experienced NaPo-er? I think I'd say experienced by now! Have been napo-ing since 2017.
    Other poeting activities? (ex. collabing with other YWS users) probably not collabing, but hopefully doing Poetry Jams!
    Prose poetry? Yes
    Quality or quantity? Much more concerned with getting words on the page than them being *perfect* so quality!
    Rhyme? We'll see... we'll see - probably assonance at least!
    Structured poetry? Yes I think I had a goal to do at least one structured poem!
    Thread theme? sort of
    U READY?!?! NO
    Voiceovers in your thread? not sure what this means, but if it means that Morgan Freeman is calmly narrating how my napo experience is going every time I post an unnecessary author note so that the audience at home doesn't get too worried about if I'm going to make it to 30 poems or waste the majority of my time with formatting and author notes, then yes.
    Why NaPo? It's a great way to expand your poetry by being forced to write a lot at once (can't just write the same poem 30 times!) so forced creativity, and also just fun with the community and having a chance to read everyone's threads and it's just a blast being able to help encourage others in their poetry too. I am really looking forward to reading everyone's threads!!
    Xylophone - would you use this word in a poem? Maybe in a abecedarian!
    YWS NaPo Activity? NaPo Thread, Jams, and probably not doing April Madness this year, but I will cheer on all the participants.
    'Zeugma' - what does it mean?? A Zebra that is just at the beginning stages of learning to crochet, not an expert by any means, but a zeugma.
    Your favorite unlikely combination: Doritos and cream cheese.
    Zombies? I like Zombie fiction with fast zombies, but only if the characters actually adapt and the plot doesn’t just lazily warp itself into a loophole.
    Spearmint aww hehe thank you ^^ <3
    as for the first piece of fiction/poem i wrote... i can't remember (i started in elementary school, i think?? and those Word drafts have been lost in the recesses of my computer?), but Sort-of Superpowered is one of my earliest projects on YWS... Synopsis: a couple of middle schoolers gain superpowers that aren't actually so super...(For example: a watered-down form of invisibility that just makes one a bit blurry around the edges (can be used creatively to freak people out and distract them =P))
    Feb 17, 2023
    Liminality Doritos and cream cheese sounds fun! I feel like the last 'fast zombie' thing I've seen was weirdly enough this otome game called Havenless? There was a whole bunch of other things going on with the plot + worldbuilding though, so the fast zombies only became relevant for quick-time events xD
    Okay, now to answer your question: it was an unfinished novel (?) about two girls that enter and explore a magical world. I do not think there was a story goal here, I just wanted to make up imaginary plants xD This was probably written in my last year of kindergarten.
    And @Spearmint I love that invisibility power!
    Snoink SO. UM. We went across the country to move and I got REALLY EXCITED whenever I saw a poplar tree, since I haven't seen many since I moved out of California and they're not really in Washington State very much. But they were one of the few trees that lived on the Great Plains!!! So I was pointing out every single poplar tree enthusiastically because I was just So Excited!! and Matthew was like, "Wait... WHAT. When did you become such a Poplar Tree Fanatic???" But like. He told me about poplar lumber and such and it was wonderful.
    And to answer your question, YES, I love Tim Burton movies! My favorites are probably Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride, and Nightmare Before Christmas. (I know he didn't direct Nightmare Before Christmas, but I still consider it a Tim Burton film, lol.) I really like his Batman movies too.
    Do you have a favorite (or favorites)?
    Are you a morning or night person? NIGHT. But breakfast food is my favorite.
    Biggest Pet Peeve: When you email someone 3 questions and they only answer 1. Also calls that should have been texts. Also when people are ungrateful or rude about food / food-service..
    Collections? Well, yes. You know how pretty much every US kid in the 90's collected Beanie Babies? I might have went overboard. I can't talk about this because it's out of control. My sister and I have THOUSANDS. not a dozen, not hundreds. a couple thousand! I did a "Beanie Baby" census once and counted, it's horrifying. Also I remember just about every single one that I have - it's like catalogued in my brain. I also collect a bunch of other "random" things - like ... used Christmas stamps?? Birthday/Christmas Cards?? Old photos... Reindeer... My parents' old business cards?? okay that's enough. :3
    Dream job: I think I have it, I'm doing what I've always wanted to do and worked very hard to do so so don't see a career change any time soon! If I wasn't doing what I do now or could add these on top of what I do ... things I'd be interested in: Prison Chaplaincy, Mediation, owning & managing a Quiznos sandwich shop, maybe teaching in some capacity - I taught preschool for a while and enjoyed that.
    (your go-to) Emoji: I'm a big fan of @_@ but I like to use :] a lot too. As far as real emojis, I'm a little scared of them because generations read them so differently! I do like random usage of the chicken emoji and also the alligator emoji though.
    Favorite YWS Work: the moon is not a brother by @Rook & fifty cents for the pink pony by @ellasnotebook,
    Greatest achievement: I'm proud of a lot of things I've done, in the last year I think my greatest achievements have been staying in a long-term relationship and just growing as a person from that and career-wise being a speaker at our national convention was a pretty special and unexpected honor.
    Hardest part of the writing process: Second guessing everything and getting past the "ick" of reading an old work to try to edit.
    If you won the lottery, what would you do? I'd donate 20% to my church, pay off any debts in my immediate family + finish paying for my vehicle, if feasible invest in owning a Quiznos sandwich shop, make a down-payment on a house that has enough space in the backyard for chickens, and then give away anything remaining.
    Joke: Go read @Carina's two truths and a lie because that did make me laugh. :]
    Note to your past self: Ah! That's a lot of pressure I'd try to get myself to transfer out of my first grad-school earlier, but I'm stubborn so I'm not sure that'd work. I'd probably stay clear of a few people.
  • Because I am procrastinating from writing... #alphabetanswers #socialmonth
    Spoiler! :
    Are you a morning or night person? Night, but by 3am I am slightly delirious, so even then I can't do night all the time, haha.
    Biggest Pet Peeve: ...it is too early for me to answer this question, haha. (Narrator: it was afternoon...)
    Collections? I have a GIANT pig collection. It is impressively big to the point where my husband is in Awe of it... and slightly overwhelmed by it too, haha. Apparently, when he asked my dad for permission to marry me, my dad looked at him and said, "Has she told you about the pig collection?" (Because when we met, most of my pigs had been boxed up and there were only a hundred or so out for display.) And Matthew was like, "Yeah, I know about her collection." And Dad said, "No, I mean THE COLLECTION." Anyway, after we got married and moved in with each other, he was unpacking box after box of pigs... and then he understood. XD
    (Fortunately he loves me dearly, haha.)
    Though, my kids don't actually know that my favorite animal is pigs because there are just so many of them that they just assume that pigs just... are everywhere. And it's a normal thing. One time, #2 asked me what my favorite animal was and I just looked at him incredulously. Then I told him to look around, since we were in the kitchen and there were literally dozens of pigs everywhere. So he looks around and he's like, "Yes, but what's your favorite animal?"
    As Matthew said later about the incident, "A fish doesn't know it's in water."
    Dream job: I am tempted to say writer, but I've actually written things for money and I do not actually like it, haha. I am tempted to say author, but I have an author platform and... the website exploded and I just. Can't. Deal with it. So... um... I guess I like to write novels in secret and not deal with the business side of it at all.
    (your go-to) Emoji: :)
    Favorite YWS Work: ...I have been here almost 18 years, I have many favorites that stretch over DECADES, do not ask me this question please, thank you.
    Greatest achievement: My kids are amazing.
    Hardest part of the writing process: Writing is easy. Publishing it, on the other hand... ugh.
    If you won the lottery, what would you do? I will never win the lottery because you have to buy lottery tickets and I refuse to do that. However, I wouldn't say anything to anyone, other than Matthew, and just invest it quietly. You would not know that I won the lottery.
    Joke:
    So there's this magician that performs on this cruise line as an official entertainer. Most of the time, it's an okay gig, but during this one cruise through the Carribean, one of the guests made his job unbearable. The guy would come to every single one of his performances on the cruise, just to heckle him. After every trick -- and when I say every trick, I mean ever trick! -- the guy would shout, "I see how you did that!" And then reveal the secret behind the trick. The magician was furious, to put it mildly. But there was nothing that he could do since the guy was a guest, so he just tried to ignore it.
    Anyway, a terrible accident happens and the boat sinks down into the ocean in a fiery blaze and there are basically no survivors... except for the magician and the heckler.
    Worse yet, they are sharing the same lifeboat together.
    The magician is determined not to talk with this man, and it appears that the heckler has no interest in talking with the magician. For three whole days, they float together on the ocean silently, not saying a word to each other.
    Finally, on the fourth day, the heckler sighs. "All right, I give up. How did you make the boat disappear?"
    Know a fun fact? Whales are mammals and nurse their young. But babies tend to latch and unlatch a lot when they are distracted, which begs the question... how do whales keep from diluting their milk?? Well, the answer is that their milk is suuuuuuper thick. It has the viscosity of toothpaste, in fact.
    Last read: ...I actually don't remember. I try not to read too much while I am writing because I don't want to steal styles, lol. I think the last adult book I read was "The Stardust Thief" though I've been reading an incredible amount of children's books lately that blur together...
    Main writing project: Right now, I'm working on a book called "The Last Conqueror," which I like to call Book 4 because it is literally the fourth book in my series.
    Do you like... want a blurb for the book??? Or the series???? Or both????? (Hmmm ...I should write a blurb about the entire series for all the people who have no idea what I'm talking about when I write my posts, lol. Maybe I'll dink around and try to write a blurb and post it in the comments, haha.)
    Note to your past self: You're actually going to fall in love with someone who loves you back and marry that person and have children. And also, by doing that, you are going to be in a much better position to write novels, weirdly enough. I know, right now you think that there is nobody in the world who can handle you and you think that it would probably be best to just write and rewrite your novel endlessly and that you don't need any distractions. But, TRUST ME. It's actually going to be fine.
    One non-necessity you couldn't live without: My computer.
    Person you admire: Matthew. <3333
    Question you'd like people to answer below: What year did you join YWS??? (Mine was 2005, I think.)
    Reason to write: Because I have STORIES that need to be written, haha.
    Sports: I am not very sportsy myself, but I do enjoy watching football and baseball occasionally and I used to go to a lot of basketball games.
    Tag a YWSer that's a good writer: Uh... Only one? Like, I could tag all of y'all, hahah.
    Okay, okay... @MaybeAndrew has a story that is on the shortlist for me to read, since it seems like a horror fantasy and I am INTRIGUED... so I'm going to tag him, haha. Like, the prologue literally starts off with a maiden happily going to be sacrificed to a monster, and I need to find out what happens next... like I said, it's on the list of things that I want to read. Though, I also write horror/fantasy so like... again, I don't want to steal his style, haha. I'm almost halfway with my last novel of the series though, so after that!!!
    Ultimate color: The world needs all the colors it can get.
    Volunteer? Not now, thank you.
    What are you working on? Like... writing projects??? I am writing The Last Conqueror! Like, other projects??? I am crocheting slipper socks for me, since my feet keep getting cold. Plus, I am considering making this for my aunt since she really likes Boxers and she survived her health ordeal and I am happy: https://blackstone-designs.com/free-pat ... t-pattern/
    EXciting news: UM. I am about to become a landowner of some of the prettiest country in the world??? Like, we're living in the house, but we're about to get the deed now, so yayyy!
    Your favorite unlikely combination: ...like, food combination? I don't know...
    Zombies? No.
    starshipgirl I joined YWS in 2020 I think
    Biggest Pet Peeve: People who don't understand science trying to explain science to me.     Greatest achievement: Hmmm I'm pretty proud of landing my current job with the federal government but idk if that counts? My scientific publication last year was a LOT of work too tho so it may be a better answer?
    Hardest part of the writing process: For me it's a toss up between actually getting started writing and also pacing. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants then get to the end of my novel and realize it's a hot mess and need major revisions which is where I'm currently at with BtD, i cri
    If you won the lottery, what would you do? Pay off my debt and the debts of my loved ones and make sure we all had houses and reliable cars and savings accounts set up.     Reason to write: I started writing because I enjoyed telling myself stories and wrote them down so I wouldn't forget them. Then discovered I'm actually somewhat good at that lol and like other people enjoying my stories as well. It's fun and feels nice to be creative.
    Sports: Hate watching them and I don't really play much these days because of old injuries, but I used to love playing soccer and American football.
    Volunteer? I'm not sure what this is asking >.> Like... technically being a GM is a volunteer thing, yeah? And also I'm applying to volunteer with a youth LGBTQ center nearby. And in the past I've done a lot of volunteer work :')
    What are you working on? In this very moment? This xD but more generally, at work I'm working on my programming course and personally I'm working on BtD re-writes.
    EXciting news: I started my adhd meds today and they're already helping a ton!
    Your favorite unlikely combination: I've been told salt on watermelon is weird but it's delicious (and also super common in WV lol I never got scorned until I left the state).
    Zombies? Not human ones but have you heard of zombie snails? Cause those are cool.
    Snoink ...okay, but the best conspiracy theory is the one where birds are all not real. XD
    Regarding your question, yes if the pain is in real life, haha. But usually I wake up if someone hurts me, lol. I've kicked off cats that attack my feet before, hahaha. If the pain is in dreams... no. The surprise of not being hurt is usually enough to wake me up.
    Feb 10, 2023
    Shady haha okay but that conspiracy theory is hilarious and I condone it xD the one they're pushing is that the egg shortage is due to the fact that the government is intentionally putting compounds in chicken food that prevent hens from laying eggs because egg yolk prevents you from catching COVID-19 and >:[
    And ahh nice! That's legit, that's totally happened to me before of something real life making it into my dream (once I had a dream there was a huge dog trying to drag me away from my friend's house and I woke up and it was really my little brother trying to wake me up by jerking on my leg lol). I think your method is fairly standard for dreams, but I am taking the survey to see ;)
    I have been cursed with the ability to feel pain in my dreams. Like once I dreamt I got stabbed through the forearm and still distinctly remember the feel of the blade in my arm and how the blood felt coming out of the wound etc. I usually wake up half a second after I get hurt rather than before like most people. It was funny/sad when I woke up from that dream I was actually bleeding irl because I had jerked so hard from the jolt of getting stabbed that I clawed my own hand with my fingernails lol
    I finished reading a webtoon- Swimming Lessons for a Mermaid and just started reading "The Great Gatsby".
    Thediffident Loved reading about you! You seem like an amazing person and I'm extremely curious about your crystal collection :0
    As for the question you asked: I mostly get writing inspiration from my parents. I have no idea how, but they've got this amazing ability to rhyme and form a story verbally in seconds! Those stories somehow present with some ideas or I simply get inspiration by looking around at school, crowded places or simply by overthinking!
    4revgreen @Thediffident i also get a lot of inspiration from my parents! my dad is super hilarious and sarcastic and my mum is a writer herself. I think it's so cool when kids pick up abilities etc from their parents
