Todays poem comes from a wonderful poet doing there very first napo event! Today we are highlighting @theromanticchemist poem in their thread rereading what i used to be All the poems in the thread are amazing and you should definitely take a look!

However the Poem that most caught my attention was the third poem in the thread. It's incredibly descriptive and imagagintive wording and almost wistful tone. The feeling of desperation almost to the point of hopelessness is tangible.
Just read this first stanza

this morning i breathed in the chilly fall air as if it was my last—
left the world behind as i stared at the cloud my breath made. i wish not to be in real life,
there are better places to be. perhaps in my mind. perhaps in yours.
maybe if i lose myself in my own thoughts for long enough i’ll cross yours.

I absolutely love the first words and how /real/ and tangible they feel.

I am absolutely loving everyone's poetry so far! Lets finish out these last two days strong!

no one tells you that resurrection
is slow, tedious even.

it’s not a glorious rebirth from the ashes
but a gradual pushing up
of crocuses from the soil,
learning to breathe
over & over again.

(you said you loved me because i was a poet. i wish that were enough
for me to love myself. i wish i could stop dreaming in melting points
and bury the too-keen scientist in me under feathery roots.)

Everyone should take a look at To Live and Die (and Live!) as a Potato it goes much deeper than simply a poem about potatoes but unpacks a metaphor about life and faith. The opening lines are excellent:

To grow potatoes is an act of faith
for you never see the fruit of the plant
until everything dies.
