There have been so many great poems this week, it was hard to choose just one for today’s PCrew Pick!

But I really loved @Elektra’s poem today — her theme has been around the stages of grief presented through the imagery of space and astronomy. Her poem “Acceptance” is a super neat looking visual poem!

One of my favorite lines is:
like a tulip nestled on Mars, I defied all odds

But as much of the words of the poem itself, I LOVE the way it’s presented in an image! It’s super creative.

    Check it out here!

Five days into Napo Week! Ooh it's getting spooky in here!

Todays poem comes from a wonderful poet doing there very first napo event! Today we are highlighting @theromanticchemist poem in their thread rereading what i used to be All the poems in the thread are amazing and you should definitely take a look!

However the Poem that most caught my attention was the third poem in the thread. It's incredibly descriptive and imagagintive wording and almost wistful tone. The feeling of desperation almost to the point of hopelessness is tangible.
    Just read this first stanza
this morning i breathed in the chilly fall air as if it was my last—
left the world behind as i stared at the cloud my breath made. i wish not to be in real life,
there are better places to be. perhaps in my mind. perhaps in yours.
maybe if i lose myself in my own thoughts for long enough i’ll cross yours.

I absolutely love the first words and how /real/ and tangible they feel.

I am absolutely loving everyone's poetry so far! Lets finish out these last two days strong!

Here's today's PCrew Pick! Today we're picking something up from the garden... that's right! I wanted to highlight one of @Snoink's lovely poems from her thread Harvest Songs.

Everyone should take a look at To Live and Die (and Live!) as a Potato it goes much deeper than simply a poem about potatoes but unpacks a metaphor about life and faith. The opening lines are excellent:

To grow potatoes is an act of faith
for you never see the fruit of the plant
    until everything dies.

Hope you take the time to read Snoink's delightful poem as well as the other poetry over in the NaPo Week Forum - there's lots of good stuff to read and contemplate!

For today’s PCrew Pick, I want to highlight this poem by @candyhearts!

The poem takes a look at the difficulties faced by Biblical mothers, and candyhearts beautifully presents us with some harsh imagery while telling us, “this is the reality of maternity in the bible.”

One part that really struck me was,
how could she not glance upwards, not sidewards,
At the becoming-corpse of her once-son?

I also love the clarity of the last stanza’s stance, but I’ll leave that as a surprise. ;)

I've loved reading everyone's threads so far! Happy poeting!

Hey everyone! I hope you are having an amazing start to NaPo week :)

Everyday, members of PCrew will be posting a selected poem to highlight on the people’s tab. Today, for my pcrew pick I want to mention this poem by the amazing @AnotherCrowInRow!

    My favorite quote was:

    Create new secret handshake
    with someone I don't know.
    Create new songs
    and sing them alone.
    Do what you want,
    it was your choice.

I thought this was a really powerful poem and a delight to read! Check out the rest of their poems this week in their amazing thread, Days at the end of Autumn

AnotherCrowInRow Wait, how it is possible I noticed this now? THANK YOU! I am soo happy you liked my poem :D

Friends, we are so close to the end of April! This month has been a blast!! I am grateful to have the chance to highlight another incredible poem today, for my #PCrewPick !

Today's poem is because by @Spearmint!! This poem is probably the most interesting, unique, beautiful, and creative poem I have seen this entire year! It seriously blew me away!!!

Here is just one quote from her poem. I highly encourage you to check out the actual thing, because it is entirely visual and so so cool!

    print("-.. | -..")

print("because i cannot become, because i am a lost cause, because all i cause is calamity")

    print(".- | ---")

print(me == you) #False . because we are not equal.

I think that we can all agree that Mint writes incredible poetry! Go and take a look at her NaPo thread, on code and conlangs to see more of this amazing poetry! And remember to take a look at the rest of the Crew Picks in the PCrewPick Hall Of Fame!! #NaPo2024

Hey friends! We are about half way through april- which means we are also halfway through the Spoken Word/Visual Poetry Contest! As we get closer towards the end of the month, now is the time to continue working on your amazing poems and getting ready to submit them to the contest thread. The thread is open all month for submissions. I am definitely getting pretty close to submitting some of my own poems as well and I can’t wait to see all of yours!

I wanted to post some #SpokenWord2024 tips to help you get started with creating visual and spoken word poetry!

I found this video to be really informative and helpful in learning some different forms of visual poetry. If you are looking for some new methods to experiment, I definitely recommend taking a peek at that.

And if you are looking for some inspiration to write and record spoken word poems, I recommend checking out the Button Poetry Youtube channel. I do not have the words to express how much I love this organization. So many of their poems have touched me deeply and are really the reason I got into slam poems and spoken word poemns in the first place.

I wanted to take a moment to say that I am blown away by all of the incrediblke NaPo poems I have been able to read so far this month! I have also seen some incredible visual poetry published, that I wanted to take some time to acknowledge and shoutout!

    Heart Fragment Search by @WeepingWisteria

This is a tad bit late, but I wanted to highlight an incredible poem I read yesterday! The #PCrewPick for April 19th is Be A Lion by @AmayaStatham!

This lovely poem contains a wonderful drawing of a lion, with written text. The short but sweet message is powerful. I love Amaya’s poetry! She often blows me away with all of the variety of themes and ideas she uses in her writing. Here is a quote that I wanted to share:

    Stand up
    for yourself

    let your roar echo through
    every doubt of yourself

I hoppy you all can take a look at this lovely poem and check out the rest of the #PCrewPics in the Hall of Fame! Happy reading and writing!

We are about 3 and a half weeks into NaPo and the poetry so far has been phenomenal! I wanted to take the time to highlight an incredible poem written by @fatherfig in his NaPo thread, rose quartz ravens & red jasper. The poem that I want to share is this one posted yesterday.

    I loved this quote:

in this time machine time is meaningless
there is no place just the destination
there is no rewind you can only choose
places to wind up in the future dizzy
    confused covered in bruises
    the crows are omens here
    and many sit beside you

    and this one too:

    they say events repeat
    disassociation is a time machine

I think we can all agree that Gem is an incredible poet who wrote heart-touching pieces, which I look forward to reading every single day. I loved his descriptions of 'confused covered in bruises', these poems are so vivid with imagery and details- they seriously blow me away!

Be sure to give this incredible poem a read and to check out the rest of the PCrew Pick Hall of Fame! Have a wonderful day and happy writing!! #PCrewPick #NaPo2024
