  • Hello hello, I'm here with some #GreenRoomQueries for #SocialMonth !

Here's a general question about your works - do you have a 'big plan' for how all your short stories are going to fit together? Are they a collection, or do you envision turning them into a movie or graphic novels etc. someday?

vampricone6783 My short stories are a collection. I know they can be a bit chaotic to read, but I want the reader to sort of “solve the mystery” of the lore behind all of the characters. (It helps when the stories are read in order.)

I would like for my stories to become movies someday.

It's time to get down to some #GreenRoomQueries ! To participate, have a look at works currently in the Green Room. Then, choose a work that interests you and go to the author's wall. Ask them a question or two about the work and add the hashtag #GreenRoomQueries . For example, you could ask what inspired the piece of writing, what are their plans for it, who is their favourite character to write, etc.

    Have fun!

  • I'm planning to get back into reviewing your novel soon but for now I'm stopping by with some #GreenRoomQueries for #SocialMonth

1.When you edit, are you planning on having as many chapters as you do currently, or is that more for YWS posting?

2.How much more of your novel is there to go? 100 chapters is super impressive, and I'm waiting to give a massive cheer when you're done!

3.Who is your favourite character to write in the novel at the moment?

    dragonfphoenix Thanks!

    1) Unsure. At this point, I'm thinking about combining every three chapters. I've found that 1.5k words is good for a web serial chapter, and 4kish is a solid amount for published works.

    2) Uh...well, we're entering the final lap of the Trials arc, and then there's War arc after that which is, uh, going one of two directions. So who knows, but we'll pretty easily hit 150 chapters before the end, charitably 200.

    3) A character you haven't met yet lol. Charax is honestly fun to write as well, grumpy old god is a really fun persona to write through.

Hi there Ari! Hope you're doing well today c: I noticed your work 'The Mist' has a chapter in the Green Room, and decided to bring over some #GreenRoomQueries in the spirit of #SocialMonth !

I had a look at the first chapter, and wow that is quite the story hook!

My question for you is: is there a particular part or character of 'The Mist' that you enjoy writing, and why?

Ari11 Well, there's not a ton of characters in The Mist to begin with, but I like to write Albert. His thoughts and motivations are fairly interesting, although the story is meant to be more centered around Brook in later chapters.

Liminality Ah, that's cool! It's nice having those characters that stand out while writing, even though they're not the 'main' focus. c:

  • Hey there Otterpop! I've brought some #GreenRoomQueries for Book II of Awakening, in the spirit of #SocialMonth !

    1. Do you have a playlist or a moodboard or something to collect inspiration for Awakening?

    2. Out of the characters you have planned for Book 2, is there one that you really wouldn't want to meet in real life?

Otterpop Happy to answer these, Lim!

    1. I have a few universal playlists for pretty much any of my art projects and stories (whether I want some hype music or chill background noise), but I don't have a playlist or moodboard limited to Awakening.

    2. Of all the characters planned for Book 2...I would definitely not want to meet the female teen that Blake meets right away in Chapter 1. Don't get me wrong, she has talent and skill and ambition, but there is more to her than meets the eye and so I don't think I'd want to meet her. In real life. Ever.

    Feb 23, 2023

Liminality 1. Oh that's neat! That's probably a more consolidated way to do it; I myself always find that I have way too many playlists because I specify them a lot xD A fun way to procrastinate, though!

    2.
Don't get me wrong, she has talent and skill and ambition, but there is more to her than meets the eye and so I don't think I'd want to meet her.

Ooh that sounds interesting <.< That makes me more eager to read about this character now. Looks like you've got big plans for the plot!

  • Hey sound! It's Lim with some #GreenRoomQueries for #SocialMonth !

    1. If you had the chance to adapt The Lost Dragon into any medium of your choice (be it video games, a movie, a song, etc.) which would you choose and why?

    2. Which of your characters from The Lost Dragon would you want to be friends with in real life?

    soundofmind OH!!! OH HELLO!! UHHH
    1. I... would love to see it as an animated TV series. :,) That's the dream. Or an interactive storytelling video game. But TV series has always been how I've imagined it in my brain.

    2. Hmm... I think Clandestine would be fun to be friends with :^) There are other characters I might choose that haven't shown up yet in the current draft but Clanny is fun and cool and I think we'd get along

    Feb 23, 2023

Liminality 1. Ooh I think it would look great as an animated TV show :0

    2. Hehe I was guessing you might pick Clandestine! She's a friendly character I find. I'd probably choose to be friends with her as well :D

Hey Reaper! Love the snazzy new cover art for your story!

I came here with some #GreenRoomQueries in the spirit of #SocialMonth - take it as a kind of casual author interview :D : 1. Did you have a particular inspiration to write The Lie that saved the World/ The Lie for Dystopia?

    2. What is your favourite thing about writing this novel?

    VengefulReaper Hi, Lim!

To answer question 1, it's a pretty funny story.
A while back, my cousins and I had a bet on who'd win the champions league final. Whoever lost had to make a short story out of whatever prompt they gave me.

    Long story short... I lost.

My prompt was actually a small segment that had to be included in the story. The summary of it was that Ethan (the MC) lived in a world where Hot Chocolate was illegal. Ethan hated this world because he really liked Hot Chocolate. When he secretly smuggled some Hot Chocolate, he found that there was a virus in the Hot Chocolate. This would kill the entire world and I had to finish the story from the ruins.

There were many internal jokes hidden in the characters of the story. Ethan Rider was a mix between Ethan Hunt for MI and Alex Rider from a kid's espionage book. Steve was meant to be introduced wearing a blue shirt and black pants with brown hair... Like Minecraft Steve.

After crafting possibly the least sensible story possible to hold up my end of the bet, I found a gem hidden somewhere in there, which combined with my passion for revenge stories, political intrigue, and grounded sci-fi brought me to the plotline I have outlined now.

I took the political aspect from The Boys TV show mixed in with a bit of Lex Luthor. The general theme of "finding something to live for" was inspired by the anime Vinland Saga and the exo-suit, high-tech warfare came from the Halo games.

As for your second question... There are so many to choose from. I'd have to go with writing my main cast of characters. My initial idea for Ethan was pure revenge. Emo, depressed, angry and that was it. But I realized over time how difficult it would be to get behind someone so... dark and gloomy. So I decided to turn the story into a redemption story for Ethan who had thrown his entire life away up until this point. My favorite parts are writing his arc, particularly in the second third of the novel (which has a Starkly different feel to the first). Almost like season 2 of a show. It's easily my favorite part of the novel tied with the prologue because I get to write about him and make him more layered the longer the story progresses.

Also, I'm quite conflicted about how to name the story, funny enough. A few have been playing around in my head but I haven't found one that hits the spot. It started as "Agent Rider" then went to "The Lie for Dystopia" then to "The Path to Peace" and then finally to "The lie that saved the world."

So yeah... It's had quite a few titles. I'm too lazy to change it now lol. I'll think of something later...

    Feb 23, 2023

Liminality Oh wow, that is really fascinating (and funny) to know. I love that hot chocolate has now been replaced by a dangerous radioactive substance xD It's also so interesting to know there were so many different influences - I've seen a bit of some of them, like Vinland Saga, though I've not really sat down and had a look at most of those shows/ stories/ games before.

I love reading about how you changed up the idea of the story to make it more nuanced. Makes me super excited for the 2nd and 3rd parts :D Also, I can totally relate to the problem of too many titles. It's always hard to find the one that fits *just* right.

  • Hey!! I see you have already gotten asked my Lim for #GreenRoomQueries , but since I am have been following your novel for a while, I thought I would drop a couple of my own questions in the spirit of #socialmonth !

    1. Your story follows the typical format of a royal affair, but there is something very unique and original about it. What gave you the idea for the plot? How did it come to you?

    2. Your characters are so well thought out and realistic. They each have a voice of their own and you have literally brought them to life with your words, especially the character of Wallace. What inspired you to write a character like him?

    3. I haven't read any of your other stories, but the world building in this novel is really amazing and your descriptions flow very easily. So I was wondering if all your stories are set back in time. Do you generally enjoy writing period pieces?

    Thanks for your time!

MissGangamash Hello! Thank you for your lovely questions!

    1. I'm a massive fan of BBC Merlin and jesters. Merlin and Arthur should have ended up together! So Fool Without A Master is sort of my own spin on that. And I find jesters so interesting - I really wanted to play with the idea of what would happen to a person's psyche if their whole identity was being an enigma.

    2. The characters I create are my pride and joy and seeing people respond to them so well and really feeling for them means so much to me! All my novels are character focused, so even though the genres range, I like to think people can tell they're mine from that. I liked the idea of a character being stuck in the middle of something far greater than him - and that person already not being the most stable, what with all his insecurities and neurosis. I love writing flawed characters. Wallace is not a bad person, and I like to think that even when he makes the wrong decision, the readers understand why. I think no matter who we are, we have all made bad choices in our lives, so I wanted to write a story about a character reflecting on those.

Also I got the inspiration for Kaspar from Arthur in Merlin. I picture him as Bradley James XD

    3. To be honest, my main worry about this novel was the time period. I have never written historical fantasy before - thankfully my best friend is a history fanatic so I always have him to go for answers when I'm struggling. As it's a character based story, I think I have been able to give just enough detail about the world to make the story feel grounded, but not enough to show my lack on knowledge XD

Most of what I write tend to be dystopian, near future sort of things. I have two vampires out called 'The Rage' and 'The Progeny' is you are interested in reading more of my stuff. The first drafts are on here but you can get the finished versions on Amazon :D

Thanks again for the questions, I hope I've answered them sufficiently enough!

    Feb 27, 2022

RandomTalks Its always funny the way tv series and books inspire us and give birth to these great new ideas in us.

Well, Wallace is indeed a flawed character. Actually all of them have their vices and flaws, but they are such realistic characters that you empathize with them rather than blame them for their wrong doings. I personally love flawed characters. There are so many realizations in little to little revelations and the entire characters arcs and development make the journey more wholesome and satisfying to read. You actually feel like you learned something from the characters; like you took something from the story and it actually stayed with you.

I never would have guessed that you write dystopian stories, XD. The worldbuilding, and even the dialogues and the wording in your story is so fine and theatric, that I was definitely sure you had a strong experience in it.

Thank you for answering and those other novels sound interesting! :)

  • Heya! I was honored that you gave me some #GreenRoomQueries , so heres some for you.

(oh also heres the #socialmonth tag :D)

    1. In terms of size (as in amount of people), how much bigger or smaller are the Miscreants compared to other groups of adventurers?

    2. What made you write this story in the way it is? (I've never seen anything like it honestly. It's like . . . a fantasy world . . . with adventurers and stuff . . . but there's no fighting monsters and everything yk?)

    3. what are their ages? like, the main characters. I've always wondered that. (if you've already mentioned that somewhere, whoops)

Liminality Heya Yoshi! Thanks for the questions :D

    1. The Miscreants are actually one of the smaller hero companies! For reference, the largest one is Ariga's company, the Seafolk, which has 4,000 people. The Miscreants have around 3,000.

    2. I think this story was mostly the product of me doing a History of Christianity course that ventured into the Byzantine and Medieval periods? And the idea that there's no clear distinction or cut-off line between you know, the 'fall of the Roman Empire' and the 'Dark Ages', even though it's often portrayed as a very discrete thing. So I was inspired by the idea of making a 'medieval' fantasy world that shows a more complex network of influences (so, Golzar at one point was designed to prefer a gladius, a Roman sword, rather than a bastard sword which is more medieval but that ended up being cut out of the story). Haha it's kinda funny thinking about it because the story as it is now isn't really all that historical and a lot of the details are just made up from the themes I later decided the story would have . . . (Wow, sorry I'm really rambling here.) But, bottom line is I like ideas of there being multiple 'stories' someone can tell about a group of people or a place, so I used the 'fantasy adventure' archetypes and overlaid them onto a setting that's more inspired by real life. I don't know if I'm making sense but there we go xD

    3. Golzar is 19, Bryn is 21 and Gerhard is 22. Lucretia is 19 like Golzar.

    Thanks again :D

    Feb 27, 2022

yosh 1. thats a lot more adventurers than i admittedly thought there were

    2. i see . . . so Miscreants is basically a medieval/fantasy hybrid born from the idea of a historical fiction.

    3. no idea what i needed this information for, but I GUESS I KNOW NOW LOL

  • Hey there, MissGangamash! Lim here with #GreenRoomQueries for #socialmonth , here to casually interview you about your 'As Yet Untitled' story!

First question: what inspired you to write this story, if anything?

Second question: I noticed the spooky descriptions of the winter setting in your story. Is there a reason you chose to set this story in winter?

    MissGangamash Hello!

    Thanks for the questions!

I've had a vague idea brewing since watched Encanto and I want to do my own dystopian spin on the concept. People with Gifts but aren't really 'gifts' because they actually mess up their lives.

I'm not sure why I am so drawn to setting things in winter. I did it for my vampire novels because the long nights, but for this one, I think, like you said, there's just a spookiness to it. I had the opening scene in my head with the frosty ground and the cutting chill in the air and it just made sense to me.

I'll hopefully be posting more of it on here after Fool Without A Master is complete :D

    Feb 25, 2022

Liminality Oh that's interesting! I wouldn't have thought the inspo would have been Encanto so that's really cool to hear. And hehe, it's also interesting to see those recurring patterns in writing. :D

Hi Yoshi! Lim here with #GreenRoomQueries #socialmonth here to interview you about your revised version of 'King of the Court'!

First question: what are the biggest differences we readers (and reviewers) can expect between versions one and two?

Second question: Is the line "if i had to do the saaame again i woooould my friend fernandooooooooooo" from a song, and if so, which song is it?

yosh 1. The first one was basically on a whim and is a first draft of sorts. There were characters and there were ideas, and basically that was it. In other words, it was a skeleton. The v2 is basically the second draft, not a second version, so that was bad wording on my part :P In the second version, I will be expanding more on characters and creating new ones to fit in the plot, as well as deepening the plot and . . . more crying . . . (maybe)

    2. lol I'm glad you noticed me put that there. It's from "Fernando" by ABBA. Pretty great song if you ask me, but it has nothing to do with a certain middle school basketball player. Just the name. :)

    Feb 25, 2022

Liminality Ah I see! "more crying"? Is that from the characters or from the author? (Hopefully from the characters <.<)

I gave the ABBA song a listen! It sounds not at all what I expected from a song called "Fernando" but I really enjoyed it, so thanks :D

  • Hiya Otterpop! It's Lim here with #GreenRoomQueries for #socialmonth ~

I'm here to interview you about 'Awakening' :D

First question: what inspired you to write this story?

Second question: which character is your fave to write? Is it Blake? Amelia? June? (I have to know :D)

Otterpop Wow, wasn't expecting that! I'd be happy to answer those questions! Don't mind some of the longer responses.

For Awakening, I actually took some inspiration from one of my favorite animes, Blue Exorcist, in both cases with the protagonist having unusual abilities and parentage. I was also practicing using sensual descriptions since it was suggested to me by professional writers and editors. Inspired by that suggestion, I realized that the written format allowed me to explore spiritual "exorcisms" of ways that aren't often done, hence why Blake often smells, sees, or hears information based on how the spirits perceived their life and/or death. How he connects with them is such a fascinating topic I am delighted I get to explore and experiment with.

As for the second question, while I do like writing Blake as a protagonist with what I like to think of as a good-natured and pure heart (and given how he sees/feels/interprets various emotions and stories from spirits), Blake's mom Alisha is also one of my favorite characters to write. She may not get quite as much time in the first book of Awakening but is nonetheless important to both the story and Blake. Despite her illness she has a strength and character all her own that I hope to write more of in later chapters/books.

Again, sorry for the longer responses, hope that's alright!

    Feb 25, 2022

Liminality Thanks for the responses Otterpop! Super interesting to hear your thoughts :D Ahh I think I can see the anime influences there. I've not watched Blue Exorcist but something about the fight scenes and the scythe did remind me of action/fantasy anime.

And ohh that's really interesting that Alisha is one of your faves. I'm excited to read more about her then as I go along :D
