Structured Role-play Discussion (SRP)

14 posts in this topic.

  1. What is a Structured Role-play? Well, it’s a new term I spontaneously came up with. If you knew what it means, it probably means something else than what I’m using it for, because as far as I know it isn’t a canon word.
A Structured Role-play (SRP) is a role-play that is a bit less freeform. If you’ve ever played D&D, it is like that, except campfire-style. There are no dice or solid stats for your characters. However, there are more limits than the RP forums across this club.
There are two components of a SRP: the GM (Game-master) and the Players.
The GM sets up the world, the story, the outline, and the non-player characters (NPCs- a player character is a PC). It is like a storybook but more role-play based as opposed to writing-based.
If you wish to create a SRP, post it in the forums in the following format:
    Name of the game- genre
    For instance:
    War of the Dragons- Fantasy

Once within the game, explain the setting, how many characters you want/need, and the character options and profiles.
So, if I were to start the above game, it would look like this:
    Spoiler

    War of the Dragons- Fantasy

    Players: 1-4
Setting: A fantasy medieval world called Ethnu. It begins in Akaron, the primary trading hub of the continent, which is in the middle of the grassland that the humans reign.
    CP Format:
    Name:
    Race:
    Gender:
    Tradecraft:
    Class:
    Skills:
    Alignment:
    Personality:
    Physical Description:

Now on to explaining alignment. Alignment determines the basic personality of the character and consists of two parts: lawfulness (chaotic/lawful) and goodness (good/evil). Here are each of the individual terms and then a list of the alignments:

    Lawfulness

Lawful (L): You have a code of honor that you adhere to or follow the law of the land.
Neutral (N): You will follow the law and may or may not have a code, but you do believe in exceptions sometimes.
Chaotic (C): You don’t give one **** about what the law thinks and you are under the impression that honor just binds you.

    Goodness

Good (G): You follow your conscience and have a sense/code of ethics.
Neutral (N): You believe in balance of good and evil.
Evil (E): You don’t care much about others and are willing to go against your conscience and/or hurt people to get what you want.

    The Alignments

    Lawful Good (LG)
    Spoiler

You follow a honor code/law of the land at all times and do what is right as your conscience guides you to.

    Neutral Good (NG)
    Spoiler

You may or may not have a code. If you do, you believe there are exceptions. You follow your conscience and do what is right.

    Chaotic Good (CG)
    Spoiler

You don’t have a code and you don’t care about the law. You do what is right regardless. Robin Hood is a good example of CG.

    Lawful Neutral
    Spoiler

The law is everything. It doesn’t matter whether it is right or wrong, good or evil, or whether or not people like it. Your honor and the law is all you care about.

    True Neutral (NN or N)
    Spoiler

You believe in balance above all else. There must be equal amounts of good and evil, order and chaos. You will work to keep it that way. This often includes Druids.

    Chaotic Neutral (CN)
    Spoiler

You do what you like when you like. I usually consider this of a more instinctual mindset, like a lycanthrope or someone in a survival situation.

    Lawful Evil (LE)
    Spoiler

You believe in order but you also are probably power hungry. Think Darth Vader- he was willing to do some pretty evil stuff to establish a domain of order and law.

    Neutral Evil (NE)
    Spoiler

Same law mindset as NG except evil.
    [spoiler]

    Chaotic Evil (CE)
    [spoiler]
    Like CG except evil.

Thank you if you read through all that. You are an awesome person. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
  2. Cool. Would the GM be able to have their own main character? And do they have control over everything except the other main characters?
  3. GMs don't usually have characters. Instead they control the NPCs that the party encounters. Sometimes these NPCs will stay with the PCs for a prolonged amount of time. And yes, they have control of everything except the PCs
  4. Sounds fun :D
  5. We'll see XD
  6. This may be better done on Discord. Would anyone be interested in a medieval fantasy game? I'd take maybe 2-4 players.
  7. I'd like too, but I can't go on discord.
  8. Well, maybe I can do it on the forums, then. Anyone else?
  9. I'll join one of these.
  10. Well, I'm making one soon if I can get enough players. It's medieval fantasy, as aforementioned. @AlexOfLight, you still interested? I can do two players minimum.
  11. Sure!!!!! :D
  12. Chaotic Evil is inside of NE.
  13. Oh thanks Kara
  14. Yo welcome

All we can do is our best, and hope that it was enough.
