    Post Apocalyptic Writing Competition
Okay so this week’s writing challenge will be to write a poem or short story based on this picture. It can be any type of story you want whether it’s a love story or an action piece.
    Image
    Cat of the Copper Plains

Entry rules You can write a poem or short story for this competition. Your pieces must revolve around the picture. I have to be able to tell that you are writing about that picture whether it’s specific colors or specific places, people or things.
Proper Rules As with last time, the same rules apply. The reason for these rule is because I’m the only judge and I can only read certain things. I’m going to have to rule out certain things because of this. I hope you understand.
First rule: No M or L rated works and please no 18, 16, 14, 12 rated works.
Second rule: You can have violence, but please don’t make it really horrific.
Third rule: Please no horror, supernatural or spiritual works. I’m not comfortable reading these. By horror I mean works that contain demons, spirits and otherworldly beings. So if it’s rated horror because there’s a bit of violence that’s okay.
Fourth rule: There is no word limit to this competition and you can post an old work of a new work for the competition. Please post your work in the club’s forum post called Cat of the Copper Plains Writing Competition. If you haven't posted you work by the time the competition is up then I'm afraid it doesn't count.
Fifth Rule: This competition ends one week from when this it posted. I will notify every one subscribed to the club when the competition is over.
Sixth rule: The prizes will be with points and gifts. I couldn’t get trophies so I’ replace them with gifts. First place gets 700 points and a gift. Second place will get 500 points and last place will get 300 points. Anyone who participates in the competition will get 100 points just for participating.
Seventh and most important rule: have fun writing. :D

felistia Note that if less than four people enter into this competition that I'll have to cancel the event.

  • Hi, Feli. One more question. My story features:

-Death of ten-year-olds (not described in detail)
-The undead as a disease, but initially believed as a possession of some sort
    -A murder threat
    -A character barfing

I've tried to make it as not-gratuitous as possible, but I may or may not have overdone it (I am infamous for this sort of thing). Would you be offended by any of these things?

felistia this is okay. I can deal with gross or mild violent stuff. It's just the other worldly stuff that I described in the rules. Your story will be fine.

P.S have you read the maze runner?

Sujana The first book, yeah. Why?

  • You said no horror, supernatural or spiritual, but if we have elements of them that just get mentioned and not described in detail would we be disqualified?

haredrier for example, if you mention that a supernatural being is causing the apocalypse but they don't get described and they don't speak would it go over the limits?
    Jul 14, 2016

felistia I suppose that would be okay. Just so long as they aren't described or mentioned in detail. So long as it's just mentioned.

  • Hey guys. How about a picture contest, where we write a story based on a picture I post. I'd have to make the contest for two weeks since you'd have to think a bit about the story or poem you where going to write. I think it would be fun.
You could basically have any type of story you won't, so long as it's based on the picture. That means that all the requests in the request forum could apply to this competition. The same basic rules would apply though, so no horror or supernatural or spiritual. Let me hear your ideas on this. :D

Sujana That sounds fun. I'm in.

  • Less than three days left to participate in the Action Writing Competition. :D

  • Action Writing Competition

So for this weeks competition, it was voted to be a writing challenge.

I thought that we'd write an action piece.

    Entry rules
You can have whatever characters you want and whatever story plot you want.
The only two things you must have in your writing for it to compete.

The first thing: The majority of the short story, poem or paragraph must be action as in a fight or a chase scene.
The second thing: The setting must be in a forest. It can be a forest in the middle of winter or a enchanted forest with trolls and dragons. You can have whatever forest you want. The bottom line is that the short story, poem or paragraph must be based in a forest.

    Now for the proper rules.

First rule: It must not be rated 12 or over.

Second rule: It must not rated M or L. V is okay so long as it's not to violent.

Third rule: This competition ends exactly seven days from when I send out this message. I'll judge at the end of the competition. The prize is 1000 points for first place, 700 points for second place and 400 for third place. The rest of the people who compete in the competition will get a prize of 100 points just for participating. I'm looking into getting badges for the winners, but for now the prizes are points.

Fourth rule: Please post your work for the challenge in the forum labeled Action Writing Competition. If you haven't posted you work by the time the competition is up then I'm afraid it doesn't count.

Fifth rule: You can enter old works, so long as they met the entry rules. You can also publish it to get reviews before posting it in the forum.

Six and most important rule: Have fun writing. :D

haredrier is there a word count limit to this contest?
    Jul 2, 2016

felistia You can have as many words as you want. :D
